The coaches may just know what they have with him and want to see how Jenkins can do.

But Flus has said multiple times…. Including today…. that they’re going to try different combos and move guys around.

It does seem, refreshingly, that they really do want to put the best five out there rather than being committed to "their guys". I guess you could make the argument that Jones and Reiff are Poles' guys but it still wouldn't surprise me to see Jenkins start and Schofield be 2nd team week one.

I don’t believe poles has any guys right now….maybe Mooney. He’s repeatedly applauded him. Have a feeling he will pay him the moment he can.

You shouldn’t gift people starting spots just because you made an error and paid them. Ryan pace did that a lot

If it’s best five Jenkins should be rg based on talent alone. If he struggles bring in schoffield as a mediocre bandaid.

There’s been so much confusion on this rule it’s almost as bad as people talking about comp picks.

The NFL fines in the CBA seem to be clearly defined concerning hold outs, but I have yet to see anything on hold ins. This may be a loophole that NFL players have found.

Kramer wasn’t the answer anyways even as a backup.

Sucks he got hurt but he was a practice squad/developmental guy all the way. Hopefully he hits the weight room hard while out

Was he actually a Pro Bowl guy, or a Pro Bowl guy in the Mitch sense?

He and Leno were added later but to replace two guys on the Saints but they at least graded out decently that year. That Trubisky selection was just horseshit. His best graded season though was actually his rookie year in 2016 where again he played C.

One positive thing I was thinking about in regards to Jenkins is that he's apparently forcing himself out of the dog house so to speak. A lot of NFL coaches won't give a second chance to a player to change their mind and then that player ends up having some success elsewhere. At least these coaches are allowing Jenkins a 2nd chance to earn his way into playing time and apparently he's making a push for it. I love that they didn't give up on him and allowed him an opportunity to earn himself back into the conversation rather than just releasing him or trading him because things weren't perfect at the beginning of training camp.

Which is exactly why it was more likely an underthrown pass because in 7 on 7s when the CB has a yard or 2 on the CB, you try to throw that pass in stride so its a TD. If I want to practice back shoulder throws, I do it when the CB is tight or there is a S over the top as that actually mirrors when you would throw in game situations. You were just wrong plain and simple.

Yes, but the Bears need to think about what would happen if he had to miss time during the season: go with center bad play from Musty or Kramer who cannot be backups as guards, move Whitehair to center with his snapping issues (though he should have gone to a snapping specialist during many offseasons after he failed the center stint) or get a guard/center from someone on the team (who?) or off the street.

We go with who we got. Simple as that. It is what it is. You can’t have all stars at every 53 positions. You play with what you have and hope for the best. That’s how it is for any team.

It’s not like there are starting lineman who know the offense just wandering the streets.

It’s not like there are starting lineman who know the offense just wandering the streets.

You DO know that there will be 1,184 players currently on teams who will be walking the streets soon, don't you?

Some of them will lose their jobs because of their salaries and new draft picks who offer a cheaper option. Some of them can still play.

Unlike you tried to say that I said, I am not looking for the Bears to pickup star players.

I know that the Bears have three options to play center on the team (Patrick, Whitehair and Musty unless there was a center picked up this week). Two of them are slated to be starters and their backup is not able to do his job and certainly cannot be a backup at guard. Why would the Bears want to keep a backup who can only play one position and plays that position poorly?

Once final cuts come along, the Bears need to look for a player who can play better center than Musty (not star level) and can also be a guard backup if there is injury.

I am not asking for 26 year old all pros who are sitting on the street, I am just looking for a center that is more competent at playing center than Musty.

Is that too much to ask?

Based on my read of the below, a hold in would be fined based on what they actually missed ie they are not subject to the larger fans for skipping preseason or training camp but would be subject to fines for missing specific team activities ie practices, meetings, meals, etc. Quan appears to be attending everything except for the practices. Think most people were citing the fines for if you skipped camp altogether ie 40-50 depending on what type of contract you were under.

My apologies, what I meant is I’d rather have seen them play the starters less on saturday(week1) and more on Thursday.

Makes less sense for me to ramp down their workload. I get it’s due to the short week but like you said they need the practice…

Seattle is a team that’s basically on our level. Would be nice to have seen what the starters could have done against them in a full quarter or half of foozball
