I would like Jenkins to be an absolute bully at RG. Push people into the dirt and move on to the next one. He has the strength to set the tone for the whole game, and I wouldnt mind a few penalties over the year for playing too long after the whistle.
**** yeah!

Well if it is that important to the Bears they can pay him what he wants.
At this point, if I'm the Bears and reports are that there are elements of the contract that are "record breaking" for Roquan, I roll into the season and hope some other LB steps up in his absence and further erodes any leverage Roquan has. If there are de-escalators in the contract, I think those need to remove but I have no problem with the record breaking parts of his deal to be based on performance incentives that could potentially make him the highest paid ILB. Roquan doesn't have the leverage to get exactly what he wants at this point so I let him continue this charade if he chooses and watch the money start to whither away. He got to watch ARob run a similar leverage attempt last year and in the end, ARob left money on the table between what the Bears had offered and the lower contract he signed this year after a subpar season.

James is one of the best, if not the best FS out there. Roquan is not the best out there. He is playing new position and not the top ILB in the league. Warner, Leonard, and Parsons are better. Roquan should get paid but not break the bank ? paid. $19-20 mil a year.
At 6-2 215 I would say James is more of a hybrid safety that plays all over the field, and I do agree that he is well worth his contract. With Smith I believe he will in the end get paid at or close to the top of the market by the Bears. Warner and Leonard, even if you believe they are better doesn't mean Smith will get paid less.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I have a couple questions for you guys.

1 ) Let's take Scofield for instance. If he is cut before the opening game, how much money is he owed ? Anything ?? Does the training camp period count toward a vet year ?

2) Also, what compensation did he get for training camp a weekly stipend ? Is it all negotiable ?? Seems to me that a guy signed for training camp should at least be getting 10-20k per month towards his minimum salary

I think scofield got a poverty contract. Reif though would hurt if it doesn’t work out

As each year passes, you see more and more contract disputes like Roquan's. His just looks messier cause he doesn't have an agent. He'll be extended, then all this will be remembered with a chuckle.

Ok but did the Bears win the ARob standoff? What happened to the GM and coach? Did we get 18m in value from him last year? Did we get compensation when he left this year?

Again this isn't about beating Quan or sticking it to him. This is about making sound decisions that are best for the time. What transpired with ARob last year was not helpful to the team. We still spent a ton of money for shitty production and he left for no compensation with the people responsible for that decision getting fired.

1. He contract is not guaranteed. He is getting paid 1.12m but it will only count 895k against cap so unless he is absolute trash no reason to cut him as he is cheap and is a decent enough backup option.

2. Rookies get $1700 and vets $2900 a week during preseason training camp. Their housing costs are also paid for but really not a lot in grand scheme of things.

Pretty sure that if Reif gets released without appearing in a game, the bears owe him very little

They would owe him 3m so again very little reason to cut him unless he is absolute trash.

Playing time related correct? So if Tev and Borom can hold down the right side the bears roll around 7 mil to next year's cap. And if there's a break glass emergency injury/incompetence the guys already been with the team.
