Regarding the LT completion, no shit Carmen. Did he really think there would be a standout this early on between Jones (coming off injury), Kiran (second year player) and Ozzy (rookie)?
I'm sure the guy who gets beaten by bull rushes when healthy will magically be better after coming off a blown ankle

I like that Loveland is getting mentioned a bunch early and often.

Glad Burden is out there. Not gonna be all doom and gloom because he didn’t do much today. He’s out there and hopefully he’s a full participant soon.

Love that there’s competition at LT. Trapilo is huge and it’s hard not to root for the guy to eventually become the starter. Kiran is a big time Bears fan, so I hope he finds a role here too, and if it’s as the starting LT, yes please.

Well it would be kind of one of Kiran or trapillo could at least start to separate from each other, hopefully soon

First day of pads and it sounds like there wasnt much real work done due to the heat.

Hard to judge an OL without pads. We'll get to really know who stands out during the joint practices. By August 15th im guessing we will know who is gonna start week 1.

Better for your LT to get beat by a bullrush than a speed rush. With a good interior caleb can move up in the pocket to avoid that bull rush.

No clue who will start, but the best "traits" on the team is kiran but obviously his tape last year left a lot to be desired. I'm not sure ozzy has the feet to play LT, so we may be trading a guy who gets beat by bull rushes for a guy who gets beat by speed

We also dont know how ozzy will translate regarding anchor/bull rush. One of his knocks on nfl.com was his play strength which is backed up with the fact that he did less reps on the bench than jay cutler.

Overall I'm just happy we have some legit competition. That should have been kiran last year but he was not ready as a rookie.

So colston future hall of famer and dayo is getting cut based off one padded practice?

Im going to need to see this in real games for colston. I think he's got a great deal of potential but we've seen a lot of great performances in camp just for a player to do nothing in real games. Adam Shaheen had a camp where he caught 2 touchdowns in his first week and the same media guys were hyping up how good he looked.

Setting my expectations low, especially since we have so many mouths to feed. Out of all the rookies i expect monangai to have the most contributions(if ozzy doesnt start)

Yea, to be clear on this, I don't really care a whole lot one way or another on any of these reports (good or bad). I've seen a bunch of random all-pros on every team's roster based on the last week of practice. For Dayo specifically, I actually think DA likes that. He has recently treated his edges like offensive linemen. He wants them to collapse the pocket and control the gaps so his speed guys can make plays. Obviously, he wouldn't hate a guy who can rush the passer himself, but he wants those big bodies to control the LOS and allow others to also make plays at a minimum.

I think the pedigree between the two (Loveland and Shaheen) is a little different. But yes, way too early on to really make definitive statements.

lmao maybe take a break from the training camp thread or something, I don't think anyone has said anything even remotely close to either of these statements

Hearing Bagent may be making things more interesting in regards to the QB1 competition. Hearing he’s been extremely consistent and accurate throughout so far.

yikes:

That started with what Johnson saw on tape from Williams while studying the 2024 season, and even going back to break down everything he did at Oklahoma and USC before that.

“I saw a guy with immense potential. Every week he made throws that made you drop your jaw a little bit. Hell, I experienced it when I was standing on the sideline when he played against us,” said Johnson, referencing his own experience in the NFC North. “But what you also see is a lack of anticipation at times, which—that comes with reps—you gotta do things over and over again. That’s not abnormal for a rookie quarterback.

“And it’s some of the presnap stuff he could improve on, the shifts, the motions. There were times when his eyes weren’t quite in the right spot. Even though I hadn’t been in the building, you kind of know where he should be looking and it wasn’t that way. That’s where we’ve been pretty hard on him since we’ve been in the building.”
