Yup I know the lie that I loved Webb. When it was I thought Phil Emery was stupid for signing a washed up Jermon Bushrod to replace Webb because Bushrod wasn't wasn't any better.

There's always more to the story than the narrative the board creates.
OMG. Now you're even denying talking up Webb instead of owning it. How could anyone value anything you say? Everybody gets it wrong about players sometimes. BFD unless it's someone with personal issues.

Heck, I thought Webb had tons of potential. Fricking head case. Maybe you identified.

More on Burden from Fishbain via The Athletic:

In the span of a week, it went from worries about Chicago Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III’s injury to seeing him thrown out of a drill for being in the wrong spot to his No. 87 being written over and over in every notebook at Halas Hall.

The second-round pick had himself a day on Thursday, starting with the second set of team drills. Quarterback Caleb Williams dropped one in the bucket to Burden, who was running a deep over route from right to left. Burden had cornerback Tyrique Stevenson on his hip, but he made the catch for a long gain.

A few plays later, quarterback Tyson Bagent hit Burden for another explosive play on the right sideline. Those two connected twice on the next series as well.

“I feel like today was a great day, a great day to play football, a great day to get better, compete, all that type of stuff,” Burden said. “It just felt good to be back out there with the guys, creating that bond with the coaches, teammates, everybody. It felt good.”

Burden seems all the way back from the hamstring injury that kept him out of OTAs, minicamp and the first few days of training camp. He said he has been working with quarterbacks and coaches before practice to catch up and build rapport.

“It’s only been two days of some team drills, and the play speed stood out to me (Wednesday),” coach Ben Johnson said. “I was really impressed by that. Still working on the alignment and details as you’d expect for a young player. But the play speed stood out to me.”

Earlier this week, Johnson had to pull Burden for not being aligned correctly. That message got to the rookie, and we certainly didn’t see any issues Thursday.

“I feel like I’ve got to know my stuff,” he said. “He holds everybody to a high standard here. It’s great for us, great for the team, and that’s the standard here.”

It's going to be fun to watch how Johnson uses Burden, Zaccheaus, and Loveland in this offense since they can all be moved around to create mismatches.

It is pretty hard to imagine a Bears team having these options at their disposal AND to go along with an experienced and creative play caller. This is what seems to happen for other teams and not us.

I’m just gonna play a little devils advocate here…

But remember when it came out that the coordinators were intentionally letting the pass rush get after Caleb and it re assured everyone that the offense isn’t going to be trash?

Well, what if today is the reverse of that, where they made sure the defense held back and let the offense have a day?

Just something to consider…

I was tongue and cheek thinking something similar, that BJ had Allen back off on defense after the last few days lol

Did the coordinators also tell caleb throw the ball perfectly too

If so we should have told them to do that last year

As someone who watched a lot of the practice on twitter, it didnt look like the DB's were playing off in coverage.

Caleb just had a great day, which is good to see. There was a lot of tight window throws

Ehhh I doubt it. I do not see a reason for the defense to give the offense an easy day. I can see plenty of reason for them to pace themselves on a really hot day at the end of July, or pulling up to not risk injuring a teammate. But these defenders are fighting for their reps too; who among them can afford to throw a rep to inflate the offense?

Take the throw to Odunze that Owens had a chance to blow up. It is perfectly reasonable to think that Owens could have booked it to blow up the play (and in all likelihood would in a real game). That is about as much as I expect a player to let up on a practice rep. You'll get an offseason highlight or two on any day that way, but all practice? I appreciate playing devil's advocate, but the thought sounds unlikely to me.

I mean, if Caleb can’t hit open guys then he wouldn’t be in the NFL. Not sure what you’re getting at here.

No need to get defensive. I was merely positing a theory based on recent past occurrences by this coaching staff

The offense gave the defense an easy day. The coaches admitted to letting the defense put crazy amounts of pressure on Caleb at practice

There is a precedent within the last week
