The 1st string offenses of the Dolphins and Bears were practicing simultaneously on two different fields. How is their starting left tackle able to "make all of these observations" while playing football?
Also we heard none of those same observations brought up by any of the chicago beat reporters who would have been all over this...

He’s retired.
My bad, I thought he retired from the Saints. Thought he retired this off-season. Then who was the Saints OT the retired last minute to cause them to take the Texas LT in the last draft?

Armstead did play for the Saints before, but most recently the Dolphins. Ramczyk retired this offseason too and he was on the Saints. He’s probably the guy you’re referring to. I’m not sure he played at all last year though. He’s had some injuries.

I’m not sure why it’s worded that way though. It should say “former” LT. He’s the one that retired and people thought the Dolphins would be a floor for Banks cause they needed a replacement.

Gotcha, yeah that's who I was referring to. It should say former LT, like you said. If you read some of the replies to the Tweet you can see a lot of people's confusion as well.

Probably the most concerning take I have seen on CW this camp. This is long time vet with no bias.
The processing thing was echoed by MIA reporter, whiny bittch Wingfield.

I think Ben Johnson's biggest challenge is going to be coaching the hero ball out of a guy that has hero balled his whole life. Short of Mahomes, that has never been a recipe for success. I want him to keep somewhere between 25-50% of that current mentality with the first goal to get it to his playmakers.

This is a bit of a tough thing to hear, though we’ve been getting hints of it from other reports too. Armstead says it clearly and concisely.

I probably expect this to roll into the season unless Ben peels back some layers of difficulty. I think Ben easily can, but the question will be if he wants to do that or not. If he doesn’t, I’d expect to see struggles and the media will pounce. While I would preach patience for any young QB, I also understand there’s probably not much patience for year 2 of a No. 1 pick.

Things I appreciated in the first preseason game:

Austin Booker - Let’s hope some of that hard work he put in this offseason translates. Incredible effort yesterday… He looked unstoppable.

Kyle Monangai - Looked the part even though he did go the wrong way on one play. Ran hard and decisive while protecting the football…

Maurice Alexander - He knows Johnson and he put in a nice effort yesterday. That was a damn good catch at the back of the end zone and he kept both feet inbounds.

Luke Newman - He seemed to solidify the inside after he replaced Glaser. Unfortunately, he’s in concussion protocol.

Luther Burden - What a heads up play at the end of the first half to allow Santos to kick a field goal. Nice situational awareness by a rookie…. He also picked up a long third down.

Noah Sewell - He was highly touted the year before he was actually drafted. He hasn’t shown much of anything but it seems that DA might be the guy to tap his potential. He looked like a different player yesterday.

Jahdae Walker - I like how he beat man coverage on his TD. Keenum mentioned postgame how much he trusts Walker. The Bears have real depth at WR with elite talent at the top of the depth chart. The battle for WR six will be intense.

Terrell Smith - He made a great break on the ball and should have had a pick six but he dropped it. Like usual, he looks like an NFL CB but he’s hurt again. This guy has a tough time staying healthy. He has a groin injury this time.

Ben Johnson - Wow, a coach that actually managed the clock at the end of a half to grab three points! I must have been dreaming.

Ozzy Trapilo - I’d like to see the all 22, but I think he gave up one pressure. I want to get an idea of what he looked like in the run game. Case Keenum mentioned having Ozzy out there gave him confidence knowing his blindside was covered.

There was a Dom Rob and Pickens sighting yesterday. I’d have to see a lot more to start believing. However, I do think DA is going to get the most out of all of his guys. It’s really too bad Turner is hurt. I’d love to get a read on him. I definitely like his attitude.

It’s preseason but my early take is this team is going to be considerably more physical and I believe Johnson will make them mentally tougher. It will be a process but I’m encouraged by the coaching staff in general.

Final note:

I love reading the Dolphin beat writers bitching about the Bears tempo, toughness, and intensity. We haven’t heard anything like that since 2018. Again, let’s hope it translates to the regular season.

Have heard several things about Ozzy ranging from bad to good. I expect that from a rookie in his first preseason action. The one that scares me is Braxton still looking alright, especially against backups. I get he is coming off an injury but similar issues seem like they are still present.
