yeah metals never really been my thing either, my first love musically is actually good old classic rock and roll/rockabilly, or pretty much 50s music in general, but i just recently started exploring metal, along with the numerous sub-genres and while I dont care for the brutal/extreme stuff, I do dig the more complex/technical stuff like techno thrash and prog metal.

checking out a bit of doom and while I really dig the ethereal female vocals often used in more modern doom, the music itself tends to be for too sludgy for my taste. Im checking out psych metal bands right now hoping to find a band that somehow combines more traditional less sludgy doom with ethereal female vocals.

This band is close, excellent vocals and while the music often ventures into far too sludgy territory theyre not bad.

Theres also a couple of other bands called jex thoth and black math horseman, and while the music is a bit too experimental and drones on, both vocalists have fucking amazing voices.
