Are you laughing at the Cavs or Boston?

He's laughing because it's an insult.

Looks like the Cavs and Mavs are close to a deal that would send Shawn Marion and the 13th pick in the draft to Cleveland for the 19th pick. Dallas is apparently targeting Russian Sergey Karasev. It would give them a good prospect they can stash and frees up a lot more cap for their pursuit of some stars this off-season.

You could say that. It just doesn't really make sense for either team. If Boston was going to cut Pierce anyway, Cleveland could pick him up for a fraction of the price. And of course, 2 2nds for Pierce is just ridiculously bad.

Mavs are looking to give up a player to trade down in the draft? I guess that frees up cap space, but do they truly have a shot at CP3 or Dwight anyway?

Wonder if he'll try for the Boston job. He seems to be drawn to teams with good PGs.

I don't see a guy like Ainge hiring him. He can pull the wool over the eyes of Sterling and the guy in Denver, but after his days with the Bulls (I still have no idea how or why he was deemed to be Thibs' place holder) I don't see it.

Let me amend this:

I'm assuming what he did with the Bulls got him the job with the Clippers. Again, just an assumption and I think he was probably deemed a 'cheap' hire in LA. I know most people within the NBA don't think too highly of the guy running the Nuggets, so perhaps he gets a job there - but I think Danny Ainge has a little more sense than to hire Vinny based on his track record. Even with what appears to be the beginning of a rebuilding process in Boston.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I kind of figured if Boston was going into full rebuild mode, which now it certainly seems like, they could get Vinny "on the cheap" as a "placeholder" while they rebuild. However, I don't think Vinny is any good at developing young players (though Bledsoe turned out pretty good playing under him) so that probably eliminates him from consideration if his own reputation didn't do so already.

Well according to Jeff Van Gundy Rose's development is thanks in part to VDN.

I wouldn't say Bledsoe's development is due to Vinny. Bledsoe only played 40 games last year. When you look at his stats they seem very similar to his rookie season. His three point shooting improved, but he took 38 less shots. Again, I'm going blind off his stats only. I can't say much about how he looks with the ball or how he played defense, I'll leave that to those who watch Clippers games.

It makes the Cavs more competitive for a year and is a big expiring contract for next year so they can still pursue LeBron. I read the Celtics are looking for a 1st rounder for him anyway so I'm sure they just laughed. I think he will end up getting bought out for the 5 million and then he goes to the Clippers. As for the Mavs I don't think they have a shot at CP3 or Dwight but I guess it doesn't hurt to try  I also read that they have interest in both Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis.

I hope the Bulls try and jump in on a move like this. The Bulls could move the Korver exception/Rip/ Malcom Thomas all who no contracts to a team for someone.

I don't think the Bulls could get Marion, but someone else may be interested.

Cavs offered Tristan Thompson, Dion Waiters and the @1 overall pick for Love, but got rejected

http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/2013/06/nba-news-draft-rumors-cavs-kevin-love/

Woahhhhhh. I would've had to think about that one for a bit if I was Flip Saunders. That's a nice offer for Love. You turn that #1 pick into the shooter your roster needs (McLemore) and you trot out a starting lineup with Rubio, McLemore, Derrick Williams, Thompson and a resigned Nkola Pecovic with Waiters, Shved and a resigned Chase Budinger and Andre Kirilenko? That's a fun team to watch.

That's what I said. It was actually a pretty fair offer tbh. I understand why the T-Wolves declined it, but that's as good a offer as they'll get for him. Usually when teams wind up trading a superstar, they look for young players and picks.

Good for the Cavs though. Most GM's wouldn't have the balls to trade 3 young players.

If the Timberwolves are not taking that deal the Bulls are not going to be able to trade for Love.

Not necessarily, we just won't be able to get him right away. Eventually they will get desperate to move him once they realize he doesn't want to play there and they will go for the best offer out there....assuming they're smart and don't let him just walk. Really stupid turning that deal down.

You are talking years now. That is to far out to predict. Maybe they win the lottery next season and get the next phenom and Love decides he Loves playing there.

Or maybe he doesn't. If Love pulls a Melo and forces his way out of Minnesota, they will take whatever they can get for him. Sure, it's a little far out there to predict, but as it stands now, both chances are fairly equally likely.
