Don't go there man. Just don't do it. That's fucking sacrilege to me.

By the way, what'd you think of the Movies? I thought Peter Jackson fucked em up pretty bad myself.

They got progressively worse. Milked way too much out of a The Hobbit.

I think GoT is just a wee bit overrated. But I am in lust with the Red Witch.

To answer fucktard's original question, GoT seems like it's somewhere in between THE WIRE and Sopranos. I left off where some kid gets thrown out a window for watching some bro and sis have sex, but it was pretty good and I'm told it really gets pretty epic.

Yup. The first one was OK. Second was tolerable. Third one was terrible. And turning the Hobbit into three movies was a travesty. Of course I did see them all so I guess I'm the sucker.

It'll never happen but I'd love to see some of the Silmarillion make it to a movie. That's my favorite Tolkien.

The 3rd Hobbit movie was boring as **** and having watched GoT I was disappointed it was all happy and shit

Honestly, it is hard to translate something like Lord of the rings into a movie. It is fucking hard. There is so much detail that fans like you and I are expecting and want. We know that isn't possible. I think with the length of the film he could put out he did the best he could. He wants to stay true to the book but can't because the audience isn't just going to be hardcore fans so he has to keep interesting for them too. I think what Game of Thrones is doing is going to be the new norm. Rather than take huge books and adapting to a film, it is going to go to adapting the books into a series. This way the details that hardcore fans love can be implemented because the series will last longer than a three hour movie.

As far as the hobbit movies go, I didn't care for them too much. Making it a three film movie was unnecessary.

I loved the Lord of the Rings as a kid. Didn't even watch the movies until they were free on cable. The trailers alone made them look like fucking musicals. The Ralph Bakshi version of the books was pretty entertaining though.

Someone above alluded to GoT being like "The Sopranos meets LoTR". I remember saying it's like "The Sopranos meets Middle Earth", and then I found out that is exactly how Benioff and Weiss pitched it to HBO.

Great mindsz #nerd

To the OP you watched two episodes right? The first two are slow, heck the first few are slow, watch season 1 and go from there, at least watch the first 5. I usually give a show 4 episodes before making the decision but yeah go 4-5 episodes and decide.

Desolation of Smaug easily top five worst movies ever made. Easily. Peter Jackson is the George Lucas of his time. Filthy stinkin rich and milking a franchise for every nickel he can get.

Probably half the reason The Hobbit movies were terrible is Jackson didn't even want to be there. Guillermo del Toro was slated to direct them (which probably would have been tits) but pulled out due to a series of delays; they talked about Jackson being the 2nd unit director as a way to maintain some continuity between the trilogies. Pretty much all the actors said that Jackson was just dialing it in.

GoT is awesome. As someone else said, you don't have to like it just because there's a big following. Tons of boobs early on.

I'm into medieval dramas and anything with to do with warfare, swordplay and villains and supernatural stuff. This series has it all. Some of its best stuff has to do with the evil ones and those characters who alternate between the good and the bad. ie. Stannis and Littlefinger.
