It's pretty clear by the inclusion of Almora and some of the bullpen choices that Maddon thinks this series is all about pitching and defense. Even La Stella with his lefty contact bat plays towards that. He's expecting close games with few runs scored. So naturally the bats will be on fire and the scores will be high. Baseball is going to baseball.

Yeah I didn't clarify between soft and hard contact, although Heyward did finish the year better than he showed us the first few months.

Soler was a given after last years performance. A guy that can change the game with one swing of the bat is necessary in these tight games, where Sczcur pinch hit well, played defensive replacement well, never thought Almora would have his spot, I thought he would take Stella or Coghlans spot to balance the righty pinch hitters.

Given that Maddon is a defensive manager he must cringe everytime Soler takes the field. He is lumbering and lazy going after balls. In these series you would have to take him out in the 6th inning or risk disaster. As far as hitting, now he has to face good pitchers and they know better than to give him a fastball. It will be all breaking shit for him so lets see if he is a game changer
