While I'm not necessarily discrediting anything the Russians are saying, one of the main things that I took away from the Cold War was that the Russians are mostly incompetent.

yeah, Russia has many socieconomical problems, theyr basicaly a third world european country, they dont share in the spoils of the western countries, i think this is because of their size, and the vast disparity between the rich and their poor. in the 60's and 70's, i think Russia felt strong because of the spread of Marxist, Stalinist, thinkings in Latin America, succesfully with Che Guevara.
