PS: I do agree that it would have been nice from Davis to apologize (which he actually did - check ESPN), but since I am sure he didn't realize what he was doing I wouldn't hold it against him.

I don't hold it against him either. I just also don't hold it against the dad.

Look at it this way. The dad probably doesn't know Davis's intention, the dad probably just thinks the guy shoved his kid on purpose because he's a magic fan. Getting shoved by a player at the game isn't something the league would ever expect you to "deal with".

Dad should have checked the replay a few times before starting to write letters.
If he didn't then he was just talking out of his ass and deserves to be called a whiny ***** and a stupid crybaby.

These days you have all the means to inform yourself before opening your mouth, but people still chose to talk without checking the facts, which is so stupid.

Let me ask you a question had it been a guy like K-mart, JR Smith, Artest etc would they have been suspended.

I think absolutely don't you? If it was Ron Artest I can't imagine there's even a doubt that he's gone.

I don't think any of those players are suspended. This was not an aggressive move by Big Baby. You can make a very good case that he thought the fan was in his way when coming down the court.

I think if it was my kid even if I checked the replay there's a pretty good chance I'd be pissed. Do you have kids? I'm guessing not, because if you did, you might feel differently about a 300lb man shoving them.

So you think the NBA would approve of players shoving fans "If they are in their way"? I really think that's awfully unlikely. I'm sure the NBA isn't real thrilled about what happened even realizing it was accidental.

I think Artest would be suspended absolutely. I would be shocked if he wasn't. After the malice in the palace I can't imagine a situation where Ron Artest shoves a fan and isn't suspended. He just got ejected for getting elbowed by Kobe Bryant, if he shoves a fan the dude is toast. That's his reputation at this point.

I think it's perfectly OK for a player to "maneuver" a fan out of the way if he is try to get back on to the court. He didn't shove the fan to the ground, he was trying to make room for himself coming down the court. Players move fans all the time when they dive into the seats and have to get back.

Find one more video or article about a player shoving a fan. This is fundamentally quite a bit different IMO than making a basketball play.
