I'd agree with you if it wasn't a Mike Tomlin coached team. He's not Billick.

If they win the next game it's not going to happen.

Tomlin once rolled with Duck Hodges because "he hasn't killed us yet".

Wasnt referring to the next game. Just mean at some point unless Fields really improves, they are going to want to see if Wilson can be something more.

You misunderstood. If they win the next game it's going to be hard to justify making a change just to see what they have in Wilson. That's not Mike Tomlin and why I mentioned Billick, who felt he needed to do this after winning a super bowl on the backs of a great defense.

Fields shows anything and they win there's no going to Wilson later.

Fields falters and you'll see Wilson. That's how Tomlin operates.

Again

What if the win 10-9 with a td from the d; under 200 yards of offense, 4-5 sacks allowed and pick and fumble from rb1

Still gonna roll with fields and the 30th ish ranked offense (which is what they are now) because they're 3-0?

And again from Tomlin's own mouth: he doesn't deal in hypotheticals which is what you just presented.

Funny how you added fumbles and ints.
That's not part of the formula.

I said it before and you didn't listen.

Fields doesn't kill them he's the starter.

If he has a letdown you'll see Wilson.

That's how Tomlin operates.

Fields will falter. The Steelers have not faced a defense good enough yet to break Tomlin/OC out of game management play calling. This week might be that test against a good Chargers defense. Eventually Fields will have to step up and he more than likely will show his true colors then.

When he's had garbage at qb who was winning; has he ever had a former super bowl champ as the backup; who they signed in the offseaon to be the starter and who's only not playing because of injury?

Irrationally so.

Fields is actually playing better under real coaching. Far from a finished product, but he is playing mistake-free football for the most part, and showing off the arm talent in Pittsburgh - he's had a few deep shots negated by penalties.

Point is, it seems under Tomlin, Fields is actually developing. They are going to ride him for a while if he keeps doing this.

And I am all for it - cement that pick as a 4th rounder...

I think he's showing his true colors right now. The Steelers are 30th in passing yards, 29th in completed passes and have only one passing TD so far this year. In fact they only have one offensive TD this year so far and haven't played a great defense yet.

Their defense has only allowed 16 points in two games, preying on an Atlanta team that has a new QB, #2 receiver and coaching staff in week 1, then on a bad Broncos team with a rookie QB in week 2. As soon as the offense needs to put up more than 20 points to win a game they're going to struggle, just like we did last year.

That ATL team just beat the Eagles, weird you ignored that and it’s obvious the Steelers have him playing more of a game manager style. You want to know a team with zero passing TDS despite two top 15 WRs , a top ten TE, and a top 5 defense to constantly get him the ball back?

Scored 28 at home against the Lions, 27 against the Cardinals and 37 against the Falcons.

The Packers game was a stinker but the OL got dominated and looked exactly like the 2024 offense has started so I'd rather not put that on Justin because then we'd be putting the blame on Caleb as well.

This ain't Mitch who left town with broken confidence, he's making the plays that the Steelers have needed him to make and he's stacking Ws right now. There's more meat left on the bone.

I'm not saying he's terrible but he's just not a good passer. He's going to make some explosive plays but also struggle to run an efficient offense, especially when it's crunch time.

beat me to it!

Imagine complaining about the steelers passing TD production when they have INFINITELY more passing TD's than the bears do currently!!!

Have you watched either of the Steelers games this season?

He's scored in both of his two minute drills at the end of the first half, something he was dreadful at when he was here. Let me ask you this - when Caleb had the ball in his final drive, how confident were you?

And this isn't an attack on Caleb, I think he gets right this week and shows why he's so highly regarded but the reality is that when the game was on the line, I was 100% confident that the offense would fail because the OL can't hold a pocket in obvious passing downs.
