I'm pretty sure that Billups made Rip that much better of a player. Notice how his production went down a lot after the trade (though age does contribute).

His numbers really haven't deviated from his career averages. The only real noticeable difference is that he jacked up the most 3's in his career. But the whole team did that.

Because no Billups to get them the shots they liked.

He was unhappy, injured, and had to share minutes with AI.
Won't be much better with BG. Not to hate on BG, but they play the same position so unless they go really small, which is a possibility, he will have to share time with another high volume scorer at the same position.

They will still be in trouble, they dont have a true pg. I dont believe in Stuckey as a legit pg.

I don't think that its that as much as billups took more shots and controlled the game much better than stuckey. They still got the same shots, they just started being me first after loosing their leader. Those guys can all create their own shots, its guys like sheed standing at the 3pt line instead of being in the post where he belongs.

I agree with Stig here.

I think it's not because of Billups but the whole system crashed (with the new coach/injuries/AI/wrong players getting more minutes than they should/age) all were factors.

I think they are keeping Hamilton for now to see what comes up by the trade deadline. I would be surprised if Rip is still there next summer. Gordon is in their future plans and now they will be evaluating Stuckey and others to see if they progress much.

Gordon WILL get his minutes no matter what - they value Gordon far more than Rip right now and Rip is NOT in their future plans. I think Gordon and Stuckey would work well together on the offensive end but they will be bad on the Defensive end, especially with not much help inside.

Detroit needs a PG too. They don't have anyone to handle the ball. Neither BG or Stuckey handle the ball that well. I think that will be a problem...two undersized "shoot first" guards in the backcourt will cause them a lot of problems.

^^^

This is why I am really curious on how that will turn out... althouth, when you think about it, they don't have that many scorers who actually need ball (other than CV and prince probably).
