Disclaimer: This thread is not meant to troll at all. I was having this discussion with a big Cubs fan the other day and thought I'd get some opinions from over here.
Okay, so has your opinion about the Cubs changed in the past few years?
Mine has. If I missed games, I'd look up the Sox score and then I would look up the Cubs score, hoping that they lose. There used to be satisfaction out of seeing the Cubs fail time and time again. But they also used to be competative. Obviously, they made the playoffs awhile ago, but at the very least they would be in the division hunt up until August or September. It seems like the past few years, they don't even compete at all and it has changed my hatred for them. It has ALMOST gotten to the point of pity. I feel sorry for their fans. Don't get me wrong, I don't ever want to see them win a World Series, but I wouldn't mind seeing them being more competative. And I know some Cubs fans are optimistic about the future under Theo, but with the mess he left in Boston, the way they changed how the draft works so he can't manipulate it anymore, and how they don't really have much in their system to actually make trades to help the team, I really don't see them getting much better in the next 2-4 years.
Is anyone on the same boat?
