Never know how short or long a HC's rope is until it happens.

I was surprised Detroit went that direction honestly. The BB tree doesn't have a good track record, and inside this division, I found it hard to believe they'd go with a D minded coach. Maybe I missed something about him that stood out? I didn't even have him on the radar for our coaching search. Wouldn't have liked it one bit. It appears he isn't doing well personnel wise either. Team seems disjointed and frustrated as a whole.

That presser where he asked the dude to sit up straight was just weird too. Sounds like a dick.

Where’s nc0gnit0? It’s as if he started his 1 year ban ahead of time in anticipation of losing the ban bet we had.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an NFC North team practicing in the elements. Patricia is 100% right to have them preparing in this way. I know they have a bunch of done opponents for the next few weeks but so what, aren't they @BUF in December? You think all those young Bama defenders on their roster have ever played a down of football in snow? This is why you practice.

Bitchy vets like Slay who think they are too precious to be left out in the cold...gmafb. This is his fucking job. If Darius Slay doesn't like the cold he shouldn't have signed a 4 year extension with an NFC North team. No sympathy at all for him.

I think if he loses the team, it will really start to show next year, and I could see him being let go after year two. It depends a lot on the players, imo.

Having said that, I still like what he is doing. If he can get 'his' players in there and they buy into his philosophy, I think the Lions will do well in the next few years and he will coach out his 4 year deal.

Not looking good, but he clearly is trying to establish a culture so in that respect it's way too early to call it a failure. Not surprising to see negativity and a step back when you're talking about establishing a culture. The key will be if he is able to build it back up.

I'm guessing he is a one (contract) and done coach, but most are like that, so that take isn't exactly stepping out on a ledge.

Marty Moronweg tried to establish a tough winning culture there as well. Rode of on his Harley in the middle of a training camp practice his first season to prove a point.

He is still a good OC in the league, but was completely out of his depth as a HC. I see Pattycakes the same way.

But i believe their GM Quinn and Stafford both have the same length of contract currently. Can't see them blowing the whole thing up for another couple seasons yet.

Although it would be great for the Fords to saddle a new GM and staff with a QB they don't really want.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bears
What did the front office expect when they hired him? That they had a solid team, that just needed a better coach? Or did they think that the Detroit Lions need an overhaul, and that this year is phase 1? The latter is at least looking to be the reality of things.

If the former is true, Patricia is already at strike 1. For being a grumpy fatbody that can't win games.

I don't remember too many pining for Patricia, but for ol' Jim Bob Cooter...I remember there being a few.

Two years at least. If there is no promise, improvement next year, maybe just the two. I would bet three. I am glad the Bears got Nagy.

I just dont think he lasts because Detroit is just fundamentally fucked from a roster perspective and unless they draft absolutely perfectly they have too many holes and not enough ways to fill them. I dont like them at almost any position except maybe RB (where they are just one deep) and DT. Ansah is toast, the WR without Tate do nothing to impress me and Stafford is usually above-average but he sucks this year and they pay him a mountain of money. I do think Stafford could have a little early-30's career bump in the right situation, but he just has no elite weapons. He has nobody to throw to that's even close to elite.

Patricia flat out shouldn't have taken this shitty job and just stayed with Billy Brainiac another year waiting for the right opening.

Windy's Mock Matt Patricia offseason is an instant classic.....

He also said Hue Jackson would be a good hire and Todd Haley should get a look.
