OT: Is this the Coyotes' last year in Phoenix?

After almost leaving this past offseason, is this the final year for the Coyotes in Phoenix? If so, where do they go and why? Discuss.

Seems like it should be their last year in Phoenix. Horrible attendance year after year despite having a playoff team and he fact that Glendale has paid $25 mil twice to the NHL for arena operating costs is absolutely ridiculous.

Hockey doesn't work there.

Supposedly there are two groups that are interested to buy the Coyotes with the purpose of leaving them in Phoenix. There is a big hurdle to jump with the lease of the building and the city itself. Really a toss up but there really isn't any place imminent on where they would go if they moved from Phoenix. Hamilton and Quebec are possibilities, as is Hartford - but two of those places have failed already.

They should go to Seattle. It's close to Canada up there in a part where there aren't many teams, and washington doesn't have a team and neither do surrounding states (I think) so it's a good spot

What makes you think Seattle could support a hockey team when they couldn't support a Basketball team? The Seattle Seahawks have had issues with blackouts in PLAYOFF games. I don't se eit.

I really don't know if there are any good spots left in the US.

If you read my post, it says how there are no other teams in the area and fans could come down from Canada to since it's not that far, and Seattle has one of if not the highest attendance rate in MLS(soccer) so it could work, I was just throwing it out there ;)

I did read your post and then I gave you reasons for why it wouldn't work and doesn't make sense. Couldn't support a basketball team and can barely sell out for a football team.

Also, who in their right mind is going to come down from Canada to root on a Seattle team, when they are much closer to the Canucks? A team in their home country and obviously well established.

Seattle is about 130 - 150 miles away from the Border.

Vancouver is about 25 miles away from the Border.

No one from Canada is going to cross the border to Seattle to watch a new NHL team when they are that close to Vancouver, a team they already love.

Hell, people north of Seattle will probably continue to go to Vancouver because it is a team they love and would be the same time to either regardless.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see it happening. Too many reasons against it.

I hope so...attendance is pitiful and their coverage here is sporadic...rarely talked about on the news, sports radio, etc

I'd like to see maybe the Dakota's get a team....their college hockey support is phenomenal

maybe Maine?

I hope so.

Wisconsin, North or South Dakota, Hartford or any other Canadian city that could support it would be fine with me.

NHL needs to move a few teams and transplant them in areas that will love and support them!

Quebec's failure was one due to having NO English TV contract, and not even using any English over the PA system. So only the French could listen to it, but a good amount of people there do speak English as their primary language and thus were alienated.

Move Phoenix to Quebec.
Move Dallas, Florida, or the Islanders to Hartford.

I've been to Seattle recently, and wore my Hawks gear everywhere. There are plenty of Canucks fans calling Seattle home.

My gut feeling is that the Yotes are going to stay for a bit.
I do think that Florida could be a team to move-- but if Tallon can get those players to perform, butts may land in seats.

The Stars-- 6K in a building is raising flags.

Yotes should've been gone a few years ago.

They draw like AHL teams.

I couldn't manage to find any Canucks fans, lots of Sounders fans though... :fist:
