I'm waiting for news to leak that the Cowboys have gone college recruiting and his mom all of a sudden has some high-profile, high-salaried position with the Cowboys.

Out of curiosity, how many huge endorsement deals over the years have you seen given to offensive linemen?

I honestly can't think of one.

And definitely none who are tied to a murder case....

None tied to a murder case of course however it seems like every dealership has a Cowboy endorsing them down here in San Antonio. Once he is officially cleared the Cowboys PR team will sing his praises and he will be driving a free Escalade and doing appearances. Dont discount how big the Boys marketing machine is.

The Cowboys will cut him once they learn he was not involved in a crime.

The Cowboys are geniuses/lucky

They got 2 top 15 pick quality players..1 in the late 2nd round and 1 as an undrafted free agent. Taking "chances" is for sure going to pay off

Every team who had a 7th round pick messed up by not taking Collins

1) No, they're not "for sure" going to pay off. That's why it's a chance to draft Gregory. It might or it might not.

Also, Collins isn't really a "chance" to take, especially not on a 3 year contract worth 1.6 mill.

2) Collins' agent had made it very clear, that if Collins wasn't drafted on day 1 or 2, he wouldn't sign a contract with the team that drafted him. Ergo, a pick used on him would be a wasted pick.

Disagree with #1 based on the simple fact I hate the Cowboys and nothing ever goes right for me in the sports world. He's a pro bowler.

I was unaware of #2. I guess that falls under the lucky and not genius category of things for the 'boys. "Either draft me in the first 3 rounds or I'm signing with Dallas"

He definitely has Pro Bowl-potential. Especially with a DL-guru like Rod Marinelli coaching him. The big question is if he'll get his head right. A lot of things point to, that Gregory was using marijuana as a way to deal with anxiety and the pressure of being a big time player in college. That pressure is only going to grow immensely now that he's in the pros. Will he be able to cope, or will he be one of those guys that just wasn't built to be a NFL-player?

Even though he's a Cowboy now, I really hope he makes it.

Yeah, give them the draft winner trophy!

They will be emortalized just like last year's champ...

Tell me more about the bad calls in the playoffs that ruined the Bears postseason. Oh, that's right, there wasn't a postseason in Chicago again.

Winning the draft is like winning free agency. It means nothing when the champ is being crowned.

Yeah, but it's fun to talk about right now. Unless, of course, you want to wait 4 years to see how their draft really turned out.

Maybe you should start a thread on 2011 draft classes so we can debate who the winners were.

All I know is that if I were on trial for any crime, I'd want Jerry Jones on the jury.

As has been discussed here several times, had someone drafted him in the 7th, he would have been able to enter the draft again next year. So nobody blew it. He would not have signed.

I could just as easily tell you about the bad calls that got the cowboys past the first round of the playoffs.....or did you forget those?

7s are for projects and risks with upside. If you're picking for grade at that point, you might as well not bother. Collins fits that scenario. The risk being that you can't sign him. BFD

Here's what the Cowboys took in 7.

WEAKNESSES Suffered a season-ending knee injury in October and it could impact his draft standing. Played club football in Germany during his high school years and is still learning to play the game. Instincts and awareness are well below average for the college game. Can be seen sprinting back into coverage on run plays and will drift around lost in zone coverage at times. Slow to diagnose and attack. Will take a poor angle into his run fit and lose leverage. Wyoming kept coverage as basic as it could for him.

The chance of signing Collins even if remote is better than this.
