All I have to say is, while it's annoying, the league really shouldn't be trying to get rid of something like this. As dumb as I think this somewhat newly installed tradition is, it's part of the experience of being in Vancouver for a game.
Don't take away the passion from fans. Same thing with the Octopus toss in Detroit, why is the league trying to make the atmosphere boring? What's next, Chicago must be quiet during the National Anthem?
Let the fans do what they want. Fan/player interaction is dying down, and the league is the one killing it. Keith squirting water at that Nashville fan last year was another great example of the league killing the interaction.
The only thing that I'm sick of, is Vancouver's "put us on a pedestal" attitude. As if the NHL owes them a Cup or something, guess what, that is EARNED assholes!
I have noticed that about Vancouver and it's fan base. When the heck was this suppose to be a I deserve it, give the cup to me league.
As you are correct, the Cup is EARNED and these pricks think the cup should be located in their lobby forever.
I think the Green Guy crap is just that. I hate the pricks who show up in the red at the UC. Nothing but a bunch of wanna be's.
Why hide your faces unless your really that ashamed of what you do. Get out there and let them see you! If you want to heckle and give the opposing team problems....just be a man and face them!
Instead Force and Sully are nothing more than a bunch of cowards.
