Historically, I'd say the Phillies are the worst franchise in baseball... the Cubs had their glory days with championships in 1870, 1876, 1880, 1881, 1882, 1885, 1886, 1907 and 1908... the Phillies took all the way from their 1883 foundation until 1980 just to win their first, and haven't done anything to build on 2009.

LOL definitely not. Worst stadium in baseball, smallest payroll in baseball, some of the worst attendance in baseball, worst TV ratings in baseball, inability to keep any level of talent, relocation a real possibility, and no GM in place. You are dumb if you think any organization is in a worse place than the Rays. I understand that you take any chance you can to take a shot at the Cubs, especially now with your window closing, but let's not be ridiculous. You'd be in trouble if your job was selling the prospects of being apart of the Rays organization, especially in comparison to the Cubs.

Awful fan support, unattractive FA destination, terrible stadium. Sound familiar?

The Astros have the worst TV ratings, and the Dodgers were actually way down there too (believe DirecTV doesn't carry their station).

Really? I think you should stop now and go back to the Cubbie forum and dream about your bullpen

LOL so you can follow and talk about the franchise everyone in Chicago aspires not to be?

Can't believe you are even trying to compare a franchise that will likely relocate in 5 years, to one that is considered big market. Amazing how delusional haterade makes one become. Yet another Sox fan with an inferiority complex.

Please tell me how much that 2008 WS appearance is helping the Rays these days. Wonder how many FA's they will recruit with that one. Wonder how many of those home made starts will wear Rays jerseys in 2015 lol.

Hey, the Harlem Globetrotters are coming to an arena close to me pretty soon. They are intentionally hilarious as a team by playing foils all of the time. This is similar to the Cubbies considered as foils to the rest of the league. Perhaps the Cubbies would be better off if they changed their name to the Generals instead. Who knows maybe Theo Epstein is a nephew of Abe Saperstein?

Just because a team doesn't win a title doesn't mean they are a joke. Especially in comparison to the Sox. What is the Sox W/L record vs the Cubs in the last 10 years? I can't even remember who won more in 2014.
The Cubs have made the playoffs in the past decade, which is more than quite a few teams can say. Was like 20 years for the Pirates, 30 for the Royals, but they don't have a younger brother in their own city so you don't care.

This isn't Green Bay/Chicago where one team has been utterly dominant over a 20 year period. The Bears are a joke.

It does when it's over 100 years.

What is the Sox W/L record vs the Cubs in the last 10 years?
Odd request.

817-804 for the Sox (30-26 against the Cubs) WS Title
786-833 for the Cubs (26-30 against the Sox)

I can't even remember who won more in 2014.
And your memory failure is relevant how?

The Cubs have made the playoffs in the past decade, which is more than quite a few teams can say.

No it isn't. Only three teams in the past ten years have not been in the playoffs. Toronto, Seattle, and the Marlins

Was like 20 years for the Pirates, 30 for the Royals, but they don't have a younger brother in their own city so you don't care.
If only the Cubs had the same financial means....

This isn't Green Bay/Chicago where one team has been utterly dominant over a 20 year period. The Bears are a joke.

Wanna stick to baseball?

Nah I'm good. It's kind of hard to discuss a dysfunctional franchise on November 12, 2014 without bringing up the Bears. If you want to argue a 1-sided rivalry, you can't avoid that one. As I said pages ago, be happy you live in a city where 1 title in 95+ years gives you bragging rights. Never knew a franchise would be bragging about things that happened a decade ago. Funny how I am told in the Bears thread the the Packers title in 2011 is irrelevant now, while the same exact fan base for hte most part is bragging about something that happened 6 years prior.

The memory failure serves as a reminder to how irrelevant the Sox are to the Cubs, which is why I asked the Sox record vs the Cubs, not their overall record. If I remember correctly, the Sox have been irrelevant since 2008 as well

But your right, you don't try and make every Cubs thread into a negative.

This is an example of the classic Cubbie fan who is so delusional that he actually thinks that his team is not as much of a joke as it is. The buffoons of baseball.

Yep, stereotypical Sox fan. Let's talk down about the Cubs, because if we do it to the majority of other franchises we would get laughed at. At least the other guy tried to hide his shots under the covers of actual discussion. I guess if that makes you feel better, then so be it.

As I said earlier, this isn't GB/Chi the head-to-head matchups are usually watchable for fans of the other 28 franchises. Let's not act like you are the Giants.

I really think you are losing it when it comes to posting into which forum.

- No one is trumping the 2005 World Series.
- You really need to research ratings.
- You are the one that came in here to trash the Rays. I pointed out accurately that you were wrong.
- You'd think you'd be happy with what your team is doing to get itself out of the cellar instead of looking to puff up your own team at the expense of others
- I'd encourage you to talk Bears in oh...I don't know.....the BEARS FORUM?!?!?! You going to talk Soccer in here next?

You are welcome to come in here to the White Sox forum and discuss baseball. But take your beatdowns like a man. I did with Gordon. Others have with Keppinger, Ventura, Dunn, Royals, and others.

My goal was not to puff up the Cubs. I talked down on the Rays, which many around the baseball world have been doing for years. As a franchise, they will never be able to field a consistent winner given their current resources. Sure they may have been good 6 years ago, but I fail to see why that would be relevant to their 2014 success and beyond.

Maybe the Cubs did tamper, but the notion that Joe Maddon had no idea the grass could be greener elsewhere is beyond ridiculous. And that is essentially the Rays public argument.

Wasn't talking about the Bears. Some made a point to berate the Cubs, so I brought up an example of a one sided rivalry, of which the Bears happen to be a big part of.

The Cubbies have been the laughing stock of all of baseball for as long as I can remember and a lot of mockery in the baseball world is directed at their "long suffering fans". People actually pity Cub's fans and in that pity they wish like hell that somehow someway that the Cubbie fans pain could be removed by a mystical miracle world series win for them. Me? Hell no.I enjoy stories about these 90+ year old Cub fans going to their death beds knowing that they have never experienced a World Series win in their entire lifetimes. These same people who experienced the advent of the automobile, the depression(now that is certainly applicable to the Cubs, eh?), airplanes crossing oceans, man traveling to the moon, you name it, never could derive pleasure as a supporter of their team. This is what the cute little cubby bears team over the years did to their fans. Hey, Hey Holy Mackerel, the Cubbies lost again today! Like the Chicago cab driver said when told that the Cubs had scored 19 runs that day............"Did they WIN"?

No one would call what the Bears do to the Packers as one-sided. Better record, but hardly one sided for the Bears.

When the Cubs got Theo, albeit a different scenario, the whole thing lasted months. Different deal now, but yeah probably along the same timeline

Yet you spend more time worrying about the team north of you, then your own team.

Laugh at the WS drought all you want, I could care less. Not like I've been around for 120 years. I've seen the Packers win a Super Bowl, Blackhawks win multiple Cups, and Bulls win a championship. Not many kids in college can say they've seen 3 of their teams win championships so I'd say I'm pretty lucky. The longer the draught, the more fun it will be if they ever do win one.

At least you guys live in a city where your 1 championship in 90+ years gives you bragging rights. Just find it funny that Sox fans make such an effort to make their voices heard, while Cubs fans are worried about many other teams. Maybe you in general don't but your kidding yourself if you think it's not true. People have a problem when their team is backpage news in their own city, so they just try to put down the Cubs.
How much less could you care?
