A few days old but I felt needed its own thread. These two were my favorite players (post-Jordan) in the NBA until Derrick Rose came along. It's hard to believe we'll never see them put on an NBA uniform again.

Iverson was my favorite player of all time. I remember his days at Georgetown knowing he was gonna be a beast in the league. Had fans every where he went and David Stern hated it lol.

In T-Mac's prime, he was even better than Iverson. In fact, a lot of people feel that T-Mac was just as good if not better than Kobe Bryant and LeBron James in their prime. I don't know if I would go that far. But that guy could just splash fade away and pull up three's all day. He could be ball dominant like a point guard and dominate (at 6'8'') and play off the ball better than any of them. He had a great high post game with a variety of moves in the lane. Kobe Bryant says he never lost a game of 1-on-1 or even had a rival in his career. I bet if that is true then he never had the balls to play T-Mac in a game of 1-on-1. That guy was a monster pre-back/shoulder/leg injuries.

I'll never forget where I was when he scored 13 points in 33 seconds. I ran across my house yelling and scared the hell out of my grandma.

A lot of idiots out there.

Krause wanted to trade Pippen for McGrady when McGrady was 18...Jordan stopped it.

Iverson crossing over Jordan was a highlight I remember...crazy game he had...second best little man I've seen behind Isiah. Of course, this generation of pgs might change that...

McGrady was a true original to me, I thought Kobe was too much of a Jordan wannabe. McGrady did things his own way, even that lazy gait he had at times running down the court...nobody else was like him.

I will always be a major Iverson fan! Had so many of his shoes/shirts from like '98-'04 haha

T-Mac was always real cool to me during his Raptor/Magic days. Stopped following him mainly when he went to Houston.

Sucks it's officially over for The Answer, even though it has been for a few years. He is one of my favorite players of all-time. It's sad that the whole '96 class is coming to an end. Ray, Nash, Kobe, O'Neal, Camby and Fisher remain. And most are on their last wheels. It's going to be a bad day when Mamba hangs 'em up.

Allen Iverson is the 2nd best under 6'3" player I have ever seen. He was a tremendous talent. I does not surprise me that so many people here love him. The reality is that Iverson was completely disrespectful to the game of basketball. I suspect that is why so many people like him. The anti-establishment attitude is most prevalent in young people. Iverson was the poster boy for it.

Iverson was a great player and a great athlete, but he was and probably still is a giant douche.

All that being said, I think Iverson is far better than MCgrady, who outside of Reggie Miller is one of the most overrated players in the history of the game. The 6'5"-6'8" SG/SF list of players in the NBA is ridiculously deep. There a lot of players in that range that put up excellent numbers. Mitch Richmond, Glen Robinson, Clyde Drexler, Kiki Vandeweghe, Alex English, Benard King, Vince Carter, Jamal Mashburn, Reggie Theus, Latrel Sprewell, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Michael Redd, Chris Mullin, Reggie Miller ect.

There are so many players that good scoring careers at the 2/3 spot that it is hard to put Mcgrady on any top player list. I even left off the best of the best. Mcgrady was an excellent scorer for his time at a position where there are always excellent scorers. He was not elite. He was not transcendent.

Iverson had a bigger impact on the game and was a better player.

I also remember A.I crossing Mike over his rookie season too.
I remember getting pissed off at him for that and hoping Jordan would dunk in his face or somthing, Lol.

I remember watching that game live. I think the very next possession Jordon took Iverson down onto the Right block and got turnaround jumper and a FT. 3>2. You don't get points for style in the NBA.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bulls
  2. Golden State Warriors
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
Both players were so fun to watch. AI was definitely one of my favorite players growing up. TMac always gets a bad rap because he never won anything. You can't deny his skill though. 13 points in 33 seconds...happened on my birthday. Unforgettable.

Hold on, hold on, hold on! WHAT???

Allen Iverson has played this game with a bigger heart than I´ve seen any other player do so. And that includes Michael Jordan!

Off the court he was just a real and honest person. Just because he didn´t want to be fake and stuff, he nowhere did disrespect anybody!

I don´t know where you get that from. Yes he was a front runner for the hip hop generation. But why does that automatically mean he´s a douche?

You´ve probably been blinded by the media badly!

Two points:

1- McGrady was more than just a great scorer. He was an underrated defensive player and was a great play-maker. He didn't have the point guard skills of LeBron James but he had a lot of it at 6'8''.

2- Iverson and McGrady are a lot alike. If A.I. was T-Mac's size, he would have likely been the greatest player in the history of the league. But he wasn't.

In terms of longevity at an all-star level, A.I.>T-Mac for sure. In terms of who would I want (both at their BEST) for one season... hard not to take McGrady every time.
