Damn you Atlanta for offering that max!!!!!It certainly feels that way. He can shoot. He can create off the dribble. He's ridiculously clutch. Perfect match in fantasyland.

Well Boozer used to play in the post more than he did with us so I can sorta see the logic. I thought he'd be a bigger post presence, but it became quickly apparently he was a P&R guy. He always did better Kirk running point than Rose. Oh well.
Boozer could've worked out if we also got Joe Johnson though. If only.
And to think there was a moment where I thought we'd get Bosh and Johnson...oh what could've been.Joe was coming to the Bulls...he was even working out with Bull players at Berto
Atlanta panicked and offered a ridiculous deal
The rumor at the time was that Atlanta's ownership wanted to sell the team (The ownership group still owns the team, the majority owner is selling though due to those racist e-mails), so they offered Joe Johnson that max in order to keep the team competitive and attractive to buyers and their thinking was they would never themselves pay out that entire contract, whoever bought the team would.Joe was coming to the Bulls...he was even working out with Bull players at Berto

They turned out alright it seems. The rumor at the time was that Atlanta's ownership wanted to sell the team (The ownership group still owns the team, the majority owner is selling though due to those racist e-mails), so they offered Joe Johnson that max in order to keep the team competitive and attractive to buyers and their thinking was they would never themselves pay out that entire contract, whoever bought the team would.
I believe the story goes as the ownership group either couldn't/decided not to sell the team later on is when they brought in Danny Ferry and then he traded Joe Johnson and his terrible contract to Brooklyn and that begun the rebuilding process in Atlanta.
Got them out of being a constant 3-6 seed. They turned out alright it seems.

You can be clutch and struggle for the entire game.Disagree about the clutch part. He's always struggled in the post-season.

lol he's not perfect, but I've seen him drill last seconds shots to win games or send them into overtime plenty of timesThat depends a lot on your definition of "clutch". However, I've seen J.J. miss or pass up on a lot of game-winners, too.

I guess it depends on what you see. Maybe I can dig up the stats on it or something just to see what they are. To me he has always appeared at least as clutch as Rose. I may have watched less than you though. :shrug:The last Bulls' game I went to was back in the 2009-10 season in December and the Bulls played the Hawks. Joe Johnson was clutch at the end and was dominating all game long. It looked like Atlanta had the game and were up almost the entire night. Then, Rose took over and they hurried and tied it, and the Bulls won in OT.
I'm sure he's clutch at times. I've just seen a lot of games (especially with ATL in the playoffs) where he disappears.
Holy crap...Fwiw, In Joe Johnson's first two season's with the Nets, he was 12-14 shooting with less than 30 seconds left while it was tied or they were down by no more than 3. I'd say that's pretty clutch.
