Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow....

Hard to really know how to feel, obviously elated...and also relieved!!! but then there's also a tinge of dissappointment that we will never see this group skate another game together again. It's going to be hard to part with any of these guys, and thats just from a fans perspective. This team is understandably tight so it going to be tougher on them.

But to hell with that for now, todays for celebrating and reflecting on a fantastic season. Congrats to the team and organisation and also to everyone here, I have enjoyed reading the great posts here and will look forward to next season.

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

I love how time stopped after Kane scored. I said to my wife "it's in, it's in" (no wisecracks) and there was no reaction and all the sudden Kane's going crazy, then Boynton reacts and the other Hawks are jumping on the ice gloves flying in the air. The refs and linesmen looking like confused chumps not knowing what to do and the Flyers are on their bench looking stunned, refusing to move, refusing to believe it, as if that willl make it go away.

What a surreal beautiful ending.

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that we have fans all over the world. Newzealand, not exactly a hockey hot bed. You deserve to enjoy these moments as much as anyone else!!

Thanks for reading our crap all year lol. It's a testy board at times but everyone here shares one passion. We may not see eye to eye all the time but we sure the hell are right now lol. We are armchair gm's, armchair coaches and armchair players sometimes. Why? Because we care about this team that much we always want the best for them even if we have no idea what the hell we are talking about sometimes. But we got the best fans here and we got the best team!!

I'm sooo happy all of you are getting to enjoy this.

I can not wait for the cup stories that will follow. And you know with this crew of characters on the team the stories will be endless and a riot. And when the players bring that cup to their hometowns and if you get the chance to see it..GO!!! We will see what we can do about getting that cup to Newzealand lol.

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

I am loving the stories from everyone regarding the game winner. Everyones stories are unreal. We got a cup win and we have a "what were you thinking when the Kane goal happened" stories. I LOVE THIS!! It couldn't have ended any better than this (well maybe home ice).

I have a lot to say. Par usual lol.

Nick Boyton. Although he wasn't with us through the season and although most won't remember him as a Hawk I want to say a few things. I have always been a Nick Boyton fan. Would have loved him on the Hawks in his prime. Hell of a nice guy and he had a decent NHL career if you ask me. I am actually happy he got to lift the cup even though he is not exactly a Hawk to remember. He may not have been a game breaker and he may have been iffy at times on the end of his career. But he showed up in this series as much as anyone else. As a filler I just want to thank him for his hard work. He dedicated himself while he was here and that is all that counts. Congrats to Nick.

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

You're great, TCD. You may not know it but you've been making me laugh out loud at my computer for upwards of 5 years. Enjoy this man!

My game-winner story: In my basement with my Dad (lifelong diehard) and three buddies. When Kane shot it, I immediately noticed his reaction behind the net, and stood up in shock/excitement. Then, like others have said, I just went "that's in! i think he scored! that's in!" at which point everyone else joined in on the fun. I think the basement really exploded when Emrick said something like "OHH!!! It rattled around the back of the net!" or something along those lines.

My mom got the whole celebration on video on a shitty cell phone, I really wanna try and get it up online somehow for people to see

A hockey hotbed it certainly isnt!!!! Its a 6 hour drive to the nearest ice rink for me so I dont even get to see crappy local hockey.

But there was mention of the Blackhawks win on the national news sports. They showed Kanes goal and ensuing celerbrations and also mentioned how long Chicago's championship drought had been. But hey it was still good to see, I was yelling at the Wife and Kids to watch but they just looked at me like I was some crazy loon and walked off. If only they understood what this really meant to so many of us.

It would be fantastic to have the cup in New Zealand, we are a sporting country so I would think it would draw alot of people.

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

Even after a few hours sleep it still hasn't sunk in yet. Just looking at the replays of Kaners goal and it has to be one of the most surreal moments ever. Think you could hear a pin drop there for a few moments. Think my neighbors reckon I'm crazy now or were on the brink of calling the cops with me screaming and shouting at about 4.30am. I'm so proud of this team and just hope management can keep the guts of the team together for another run next season. Would love to be at the parade in Chicago tomorrow. Hope everyone that goes has a blast and have a Guinness for a Hawks fan sitting at home in Ireland with the biggest smile on his face.

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sitting here at my desk at work....coffee just finished brewing....my head hurting, way too much beer last night....wearing my Indianhead sweater proudly......and I can't stop smiling. I have the stupidest grin on my face. I get misty eyed thinking about the boys celebrations on ice. Buff skating around with the banner, was the best site last night, just showed the youthful exuberance and the joy they all have to be feeling. I'm half embarrased about my celebrations last night.....jumping around like a little school kid, crying in joy....even did like I said I was going to and went into the back yard and screamed some things I know my neighbors are probably going to complain to me about later....but I warned them at the beginning of the playoffs it would happen.

Congrats to the boys, this is awesome for them. I know, in the back of my head, some of these boys won't be there next year when they do it again, but everyone of them will be a Hawk forever, even Cristobal for all you haters.

I want to thank all of you here, at times we have a go at each other, but when it boils down to it, it's because we are fans, and we follow the team with the hopes of witnessing what we did last night.

That statement sums up the officiating for the entire series.

I was watching the game with a buddy who's a Wings fan. God bless him; he was pulling for the Hawks too, and we were both initially confused until we saw the Hawks celebrating. Then we hugged. It was a neat moment, since I couldn't be with my son to watch the game. I just wish my dad had lived long enough to see this, too (he died in Dec. of 05). He was a true blue Cubs fan, but he also rooted for the Hawks and took me to my first Hawks game at the Stadium when I was a kid. This Cup is for you, dad!

Re: HAWKS WIN THE CUP HAWKS WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!!!!

I still can't believe it...

I watched the game with my brother at his son's house. We are all Blackhawks fans forever - he saw the Cup win in '61. Talk about a nailbiter. We DID NOT want it to go to a game seven. When Hartnell scored I think it physically hurt me LOL. Couldn't believe the Kane goal - like everyone else we didn't know it was in the net. I've been waiting all my life for this and it will be a "where were you when..." moment that I'll never forget. I'm scouring the television and internet for more video of last nights win.

Is there any Chicago TV online that would have more coverage of this?

After Kane scored...

"I believed in him," said captain Jonathan Toews "I don't think he would have thrown his gloves off like that if he wasn't 100 percent sure. I was just hoping to God it was just an actual goal or we would be celebrating for nothing," Toews said.

Wish my grandfather had lived to see this...took me to my first Hawks game in 70 or 71 when we came back to the states. Passed away in 04. I know the little polack is dancing in heaven.
