Other options besides Nylander?

I can see why his former team tired of him..wasted pick by them and Bowman got the shit end of the stick in the trade..If they are sellers
instead of renters, I expect they include him in some kind of a trade..

Let me ask you this.....if you were an NHL GM, what would you be willing to give up to get him? To be honest, not sure why any GM would want him. Right now, he's probably as worthless as KooKoo is.

If nothing else, this game pretty much showed how far the Hawks are from a being a good team....sure, they have some heart and some nice goaltending but are lacking in both skill and speed. That's a death rattle in this league.

Nylander is horrible. But so has been the whole forward group since the all star break.

Hawks got on their little run to make it interesting by scoring in droves. Now they have all but disappeared again.

He got his first goal as a hawk heading to the net, I do not know what happened since then, but all I see is stop a few feet inside the blue line and get rid of the puck, or skate down the middle of the ice, get in the zone, and steer the puck away from the net.
Just seems to be playing hot potato out there.

We do, but Bowman the Lesser won't use them for fear people will not see him as the smartest guy in the room.

At this trajectory, I don't see Nylander in the NHL for long. The drive and consistency are lacking to say the least.

Seems everyone saw this coming except for The Lesser.

Mainly the drive. It just seems like he is coasting out there and going through the motions. He literally has one skating speed. Never have I seen him put it into 2nd gear to beat a man to a loose puck, etc.

Yeah, here, I'm posting a compilation of the board-battles which Nylander has engaged in and won in his NHL career:

Can't belive they still have that guy out there on the powerplay.
I'd rather see Caggs or Smith camped in front of the net.

Agreed! He hasn't even earned being in the line up let alone getting power play time. It's disturbing because it shows the lengths that StanBo is willing to go to in trying to jump start this kid to try and keep from looking like he made another bonehead trade.
It also shows that Zoolander's line up decisions are being influenced by his GM.

It's funny how much difference a couple weeks makes. Back then, the majority here was fine with Nylander -- understandably, because he was playing his best hockey not too long ago -- but this is the problem with him. He shows brief flashes but for the majority of the time, he plays like he doesn't care.

I wasn't as down on him earlier as I am now.....you can clearly see he has some skills. But he plays scared and disappears for games on end. He's not a huge guy but he's not small either, which makes it hard to explain. The Hawks have some decisions to make by the end of the season, he's gonna have to dial it up a few notches or he will be gone. Which means Bowman gave up a promising young player for nothing.

I never liked him ever since the trade. I have relatives in Buffalo that are huge Sabres fans, the filled me in about the guy and were spot on.
Losing the Joker for him makes it that much worse.

Yup, what else is new.

Nylander is nothing but a Stalberg Part 2.

We discussed this in another thread and while it's hard not to buy into that run they had.....we were all dumb enough to think that maybe, just maybe our eyes are deceiving us and this team is better than we thought. They are not....and to blatantly steal from Dennis Green...."they are what we thought they are". Mediocre.....which is in itself a curse. You play just outside of the parameters of being good or being terrible. The worst place you can be as franchise.

So......for the love of God.....please don't let Bowman try to salvage a season that was basically over before it started. Trade off what you can, pick up some expiring contracts in exchange for some youngsters or picks and just let this season die.

Nylander would have to improve his game to be Stalberg. Stalberg had great speed as a skater and wasn't afraid of contact. If Stalberg had Nylander's natural stick skills, he could have been a player. Regardless, you're point is valid as they are both half baked players.

His speed was definitely his best attribute, and he also had size. I can't tell who has the better hands between Stalberg and Nylander -- maybe Stalberg, but the difference is negligible. I used to love how Foley would rip on Stalberg every single change he got, was always good for a laugh.
