Why would he be close to losing his job? Their offense is top rated and they have has a ton of injuries.

When the Bears beat them Monday night, who have had a ton of injuries as well, you'll realize why.

Wasn't the alleged case he turned away the Bears after the 1st interview because of Cutler. Of course that was just rumor and the Phillip Rivers Chargers situation was a better HC job seemingly to take.

Well that's a question for the people saying the rumors that he could be on the hot seat not me. I have no idea if the rumors are true or not but there have been mentions of him losing his job.

I would put better odds on McCoy getting canned than Gase getting promoted.

Why all the Gase love? This offense is not exactly leading the league.

20th in scoring, 27th in yardage, 16th in rushing and 22nd passing. He's done a tremendous job with the M.A.S.H. unit he's worked with these first 8 weeks.

But is it a good enough job to get him a promotion would be my question.

My money is on no.

The soft bigotry of low expectations.

I'll start by saying I like Gase. I'm a fan of his. I think he's doing a good job and is a competent OC. Having said that, you would think the Bears offense is destroying teams, racking up points, and putting fear in the opposition with the way some people are talking about Gase and Cutler this year. Jay has been decent/ok/solid/not bad and Gase has managed Cutler and the offense like a competent OC should. I'm pleased with both of them but I would pump the brakes with being fearful of losing Gase and showering Jay with praise like he's playing amazing.

People were talking about this potential outcome BEFORE the season started. Knowing, anything but Trestman levels of chaos would still allow Gase to be a reasonable HC candidate. The world isn't so functionally handicapped to only judge coaches based on 1 year or just the previous year. HC's get hired based on their potential and body of work demonstrating it.

Organizations will still look at his success in Denver and how poorly the last coach/OC did with a better roster.

I could really see Tennessee being interested.
