Shiel Kapadia has an interesting prediction article up on the Athletic.

-He has Wentz going to the Colts.

-He has Darnold coming to the Bears for a conditional 2022 3rd that can become a 2nd if Darnold plays well.

I actually do not mind taking a flyer at that cost.
I had Shiel Kapadia once. Paired with an oaky red wine it's not too. Though the next morning was a technicolor nightmare.

Can someone clue me in on darnold?

Every impression I got from hearing about him was that he was just as broken as Wentz.

But since I don't consume Jets football I have no idea.

I think another important factor here is outside of what's already happened philly simply can't bring him back and have him have another bad season. Roseman would be putting his job at risk in that situation I'd have to think. The only thing they can do to improve the team is hope for health and some hits in the draft. They are going to have to cut a lot of talent to get below the cap. So what are the odds they can really create a better opportunity for wentz to thrive. For Roseman he is better off shipping him out and recouping some picks for a rebuilding year. Theyve really backed themselves into a corner with the current roster situation they have.

Ok, so I just looked him up and my first impression is that he has a very punchable face.

No really, his face looks like Andrew luck and Mitch trubisky had a baby.

It's hard to tell if darnold is broken or was just never good. He hasn't shown much, but was on a terrible roster. Darnold to me is a hail Mary with much higher bust potential, but would be less risk in trade capital and money commitment.

I could get on board with Darnold for that price.

Darnold has been Trubisky but with more interceptions. Classic 'seeing ghosts' scenario, once he loses confidence in what he sees it snowballs.

That said the Jets offense has been less talented and more dysfunctional than the Bears over the last three years. A third in 2022? Probably worth it imo.

I'm curious if people actually see something in Darnold or if it's just a name that is different.

I admit I haven't watched a ton of his games, but when I have he looks lost trying to make his reads. I feel like he is a terrible pairing with Nagy.
I would much rather trade up than give anything for Darnold. IMO you know if a QB has it or not at this point regardless of talent around him.

Unless we bring in a superstar, every QB is a terrible pairing with Nagy.

I’d take Darnold for a 2022 3rd vs Wentz for 2 2nd round picks it’s a no brainer in my opinion. Both are Hail Mary passes but one doesn’t kill your cap or picks, could still even draft a qb this year and probably trade Foles to the Eagles for a 2022 4th.

These hail Mary's are not equal as far as the player involved. One (wentz) is more like a deep ball into single coverage. The other (darnold) is a hail Mary into a group of defenders.

Absolutely agree.

I don't really like Darnold the player at all but the price is right and it can fit with a broader plan to make the team better. Wentz has gotten outrageously expensive for a player who was as awful as he was last season.

Crap is crap regardless of price. Darnold is simply a bad value.
