Fudgies didn't have much cap room left, was 29mil before Graham/Wilkerson signings. odd.

I've been saying this for so long on here but i'll say again that there's many ways for teams to come up with more money when they need it. Every year in these free agency threads i see people saying that this team or that team only have this much so they can't sign anyone and then those same teams sign guys. I remember on here the year we signed Jared Allen very late in free agency that nobody on here thought we had any money to spend and then out of nowhere we sign J.Allen to something like a $9-$10 mil per year contract.

You can't make Kyle Fuller the highest paid CB in the league and be OK with that. We don't even know if he's elite.

It would be great if Pace came out and said,"We saw the offer sheet and we will be matching it...in 5 days. Have fun watching all the FA signings while you are cap locked for 5 days Green Bay."

The thing about Fuller... I am not sure he is suited to play the press man to man that Pettine will want to run in GB.

Yeah thats right, last year Fuller was usually zone but he did do some man to man and was pretty good.

This move tells me they have the Rodgers extension in place. They can create considerable amount of cap space with a Rodgers extension.

Actually they didn't say they front loaded it, they said they could so it could make it hard for the Bears to match.

How are the Packers going to pay for that?

Sure, if they want to go the Saints route and have say 30M tied down on Rodgers for like 5 straight years.

I dont even care about the money. The kid signed a deal with the packers. Fucking treasonous bitch!!!! Fuck em! Now i will no longer argue over our #8 pick.

It's called business. Remember Jim McMahon was a Packer too.

Stafford got 5/135. Rodgers gave the Pack a break on his last deal. I don't see that happening this time around. He has voiced his opinion a couple times about his pay in the past (like when the Bears signed Glennon!). I could see 5/145 for Rodgers. Cousins basically got 5/150.

It's going to be a lot more than $12M.

$12m is a very reasonable offer. Bears fans are just not used to having to pony up bigger $$$ to retain talent.

$12M per year is about right for Fuller. It would have been nice to pay a little less, but in actuality GB could be doing CHI a favor here. What if a team the the Colts came along and offered $16M per yer just because they have cap space to burn?

Also, we needed him to accept an offer otherwise he was on a one year deal. If CHI only wanted Fuller for one year, he would have been franchise tagged. The goal was a long term deal.

12 million is reasonable for a #1 CB in the NFL. Problem is that Fuller doesn't have the track record of those other guys. He's got 1 season of good work under his belt in 4 years. That's the risk here for the Bears. Do they think that Fuller will get better or will he regress or get lazy when he's not in a contract year?
