When we signed him in July 2008, as you noted earlier, it was a statement by the organization, Like the Hossa signing a year later, that the Hawks were mother-fuckin' serious about becoming contenders for the Cup, again. When we signed Campbell, if he wasn't the premier puck-carrying play-making D-man in the league, he was easily among the top offensive D-men. Although, I'd argue, he never reached the heights of his play-making abilities with the Hawks that he displayed while a Sabre, he was an extremely effective playmaker for the team, and with skating skills and hockey savy, so that he wasn't a defensive liability. He was an extemely important member of the Hawks team that helped bring the cup back to Chicago after a 49-year drought. So **** the simple assholes who don't realize that.

Well, I witnessed it more than a few times at the UC.
I don't need to get into a huge debate about it. Whether it's 2,20 or 2000, there's always haters. Maybe some of it had to do with the cap hit, because there's always a group of asshats that abide by the "lunch-pail" player. Then that player gets paid, then the fans expect god-like abilities.
Just wait for 88 and 19 to get that super pay day starting next season.

There were a couple of those slack-jawed yokels back in purgatory (O-boards). I likes what Soupy brought. I also laughed when, in a preseason game, he got injured and the announcers said, "..and Campbell is skating gingerly off the ice".

But yeah, nothing warms my heart more about Campbell than his time in Buffalo when he lit up RJ umberger.

Anyhow, onto the game.
