This is a bit deceiving. Average is around 30% using fangraphs' numbers which are different but similar. Only cubs positional players below 30% are Heyward(28.4%), Almora(27.9%), Jay(25.0%), Russell(22.8%) and two guys not really mattering in Candelario and Szczur. In the case of the first 3, all are hitting well other wise and really power wasn't expected to be part of their game. Russell on the other hand has been a disappointment but you can't just look at hard hit rate. His soft/med/hard rates are 14.7%/62.5%/22.8%. So, he's got a really low soft contact rate as well. And to point out why you can't just use these numbers to justify everything, Schwarber is at 20.3%/44.9%/34.8% on soft/medium/hard while Rizzo is 21.1%/48.6%/30.3%. And of course Schwarber is hitting .165/.293/.352 to Rizzo's .236/.372/.458.
