Hawks are +31 as a team.

Kane has gone from -9 to +4 in a little less than a month.

In terms of +/-, when Kane was a -9, Keith was -2 and Seabs was even...Monster comebacks by those two as well.

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND were paying 4m per for Bryan Bickells 6 pts in 22gms thus far this year. I was so against that stupid stupid contract its not even funny. That signing was a reactionary fan service not an intelligent hockey decision. Off topic I know but I thought it important to highlight our biggest contract underachiever this year. BOLLIG is fucking outscoring him, I dont care if hes played 10 more games.

He's on LTIR, so not really. But yeah, he better TEAR IT UP when he comes back, and into the playoffs.

The Bickell contract is dumb as hell and he will need to do a lot to live up to it. Then again it's not his fault Bowman got carried away and looked at a short sample rather than the whole body of work. Had he considered Bickell's whole career, he would see a wildly inconsistent player. But the way the cap is going to rise, the contracts badness ought to lessen.

The problem with giving such an inconsistant player 4m a year was that we had to trade Frolik, and it assfucked the PK

I for once agreed with Eddie O last night and that having Frolik here or not isn't making that big of a difference on the PK. The hawks PK in general has a different tactic in place and it sucks. Instead of being aggressive they sit back and play a triangle +1. As I said in a different thread, you can't allow the oppositions point men to get off shots in the many shooting lanes they are given. With our PKer in the slot instead of higher you are giving the point guy more time and space to shoot which has been killing the hawks. A lot of the goals are coming off one timers or shots from the point that we have nobody in the shooting lane. Those shots proceed to get tipped or go in on a screened goalie.

Get the PK forward out of the middle f the slot and back to the top of the circles or at least in line with the faceoff dot and id bet money the PK does better.

I still do. 5 goals in 22 games played, plus he's learned to earn his pay nearer the net. And when you look at what other guys with similar skillsets got, the Hawks saved over $2 million a year.

Next season the Hawks' LW depth chart will be Sharp, Saad, Bickell and McNeill. That's nasty and sick.

The Cap will be $71 million next year. I'm sure the Hawks can squeak by on that.

It's $4 million per to score 9 playoff goals and dish out 60+ hits en route to raising the cup.

Because you can doesn't always mean you should. It's too early to say anything really, but I really hope he continues to play like he did in the playoffs, otherwise, it is a bad move.

it's a $4 million assumption that he will do that every year in the playoffs.

It's a lot of money for someone who's inconsistant, and never scored 20 goals in a season. He was paid that amount because he was expected to be a first liner.

He can play top 6 minutes if need be. The fact that not even kryptonite can slow down the Red Wedding Line is no fault of Bickell's.

I still think the Bickell contract was good, especially with the cap jumping next season. It sucked losing Frolik but his ability to play heavy in the crease is something we couldn't get from Frolik and he comes through in the playoffs. Every team in the league would have paid 4mil for him, was not a bad contract to make. Injuries happen.

Toews/Sharp/Hossa. It's a thing.

But the original point is that the Hawks have 6 top 6 wings. Either Bickell or Saad would play on the top 2 lines anywhere else in the NHL.

I just wish anybody in the world other than Zus were centering Kane. His last 5 goals have come with Zus on the bench.
