talent & camp-wise, we need to bring in a bigger set of CB competition. The Patriots will cut Alfonzo Dennard. He is only 25 and was viewed as a potential late first, early second round pick in the 2012 draft, but dropped to due serious legal issues. With everybody saying the Bears need corner and safety help, should the Bears pick him up? Maybe just for depth purposes. Thoughts? Opinions?
i read about it...Guys, the Patriots aren't exactly in great shape at CB. Actually, they are in pretty bad shape byt the looks of it.
So there simply has to be something wrong with this guy, since they're cutting him now. I mean, he was a possible starter! He's been rumoured to be a complete ass-clown earlier in his career, and his act might've worn thin on Belichick.
This just seems so suspicious to me, that I'd be very iffy if we signed this guy.
'Dennard’s contract worked against him as well. Per NFL rules, Dennard had received an automatic raise that more than doubled his pay (from $660,000 to $1.542 million) because he outperformed his seventh-round draft status over the first three years of his career.'
But the raise did not come with any guaranteed money, putting Dennard in a vulnerable position — making him the team’s third-highest-paid cornerback but with no protection. The Patriots will now save all $1.542 million and will only be charged $14,462 against the salary cap for cutting Dennard. The move creates $957,000 in cap space.
Dennard played in just six games last season, often a healthy scratch, and was beaten out for playing time by Butler, who also played on special teams, something Dennard didn’t do.
Shoulder & knee injuries, DUI, missing a lot of games... it's all right there; only thing suspicious would be trying add 'doubting work ethic'.
sometimes kids just need a shock & a new setting"Members of the Patriots have routinely questioned his work ethic and commitment to the game, too."
Sounds great. Sign him!
ya, doesnt sound like Fox has any tolerance for poor team attitude. but maybe he might for younger players who want a new start.Belichick and NE rarely let guys go that have value. Additionally, Pace seems to want to foster a football first and only locker room, so I don't see this happening. Can anyone say...Brandon Meriweather.
might not cost anything to try him thru camp.
