Imbw, is that a short way of saying "I might be wrong?" Like "LOL" or "IMO", I'm guessing not since when I typed those second two my iPhone knew what they were and capitalized them. Not the case with imbw, but I digress.
I remember hearing recently, maybe on Doug's show, that Great Britain had already qualified for the olympics or at least the next round of qualifications and that Deng need not play this summer. I would think BG would not play for the same reason.

Someone else has said that it's not a complete lock that they're in the Olympics. Basically the host country gets a near automatic birth as long as they aren't a complete joke in the sport. By qualifying for Eurocup, most people believe that GB will get an automatic birth now.

If they completely fail prior to 2012 though it's possible that they may have it taken away I suppose.

An interesting scenario could play out. Ben Gordon seems like a lock to play imo. His free agency situation should be resolved in the first few days of free agency imo, so he should play. Potentially, Gordon, Mensah-Bonsu, and Azuibuke could lead GB to the European Championship win, without Deng, that would be embarassing...but with both Gordon and a healthy Deng, I think GB is right up there with the other top European teams, especially since Buke should be joining the team in addition to Gordon.

I don't want to bar him from playing internationally though. I want to see the Gordon and Deng vs. Derrick Rose, 2016 Olympics game in Chicago. That would be such a great draw.

I think Gordon will probably be resolved prior to the international play this year, but I'd be very surprised if he's resolved in the first few days of FA. That happens for guys who teams need to compete heavily for and are willing to pay huge dollars.

I don't think anyone is going to come out and make Gordon their #1 priority this off season.

Gordon can create an artificial deadline for the Bulls this summer.

"Make me your contract offer by xxxx, or I'm signing with the Heat for the MLE."

I think that should speed things up. There is no reason for this thing to drag on long again, and I don't think Gordon will let it drag on. I'd be surprised if Gordon isn't signed in the quarantine period, where you can't actually sign the player to a contract.

I don't even care about Lu right now. We have been playing our best basketball of the year with him out. Obviously, if he returned to 2006-2007 form, I'd love to have him, but I don't see that happening. He is injury prone and soft. With how well the Bulls have played since the trade, I'd like to shop Lu for some good contracts and let Salmons and Gordon come back in the same roles they played this year. Is it possible for us to keep Gordon and Hinrich assuming we can unload Deng? Hinrich has really stepped up lately. He looks fresher than players on other teams, likely because he missed the first 30+ games this year.

Gordon could do that, and maybe he will. I don't think it's a huge threat for the Bulls given that I'm not sure they want him back anyway. Also Gordon clearly wants significantly more than the MLE, so if he has a chance of getting it then he'd be patient I suspect since I doubt MLE deals will fly off the table for him, he can probably find one at the end of FA if he wants.

I think the problem with the Bulls and Gordon is the Bulls will need to make trades to free up space under the tax for Gordon. That's going to be contingent on what other teams want to do and if the Bulls think it's worth it. I don't think anything will get done.

Everyone else get's their own thread, why not Stevo... Especially after some heavy criticism early. I doubt he's out of the woods, and I'm still not sold, but he's been much better. I don't love or hate him really, he's kind of a big Meh. But he's been much better lately.

Discussion?

he's been better lately. I didn't like the signing, I didn't like him in the first 10 games of the season. I don't know now. He's playing better. Good for him.

I liked the signing simply because of the fact that he was a failsafe option in case Leddy wasn't able to step up to the potential he could be now with Campbell gone. I expected him to be more of a 2nd line man anyway, and Leddy has stepped it up big time.

Does this mean Montador hasn't fared well? Being on a new team can make things rough at first, but eventually he will be fine. As we saw last night vs the Oilers, I think he came out of his shell and started being the reason we wanted him in the first place.

He's playing now like he did the first part of last season. By the middle of the season Sabre fans were ready to hang him.

If Seabrook is out any extended time he's going to have to keep his game exactly where it's been the past three games.

I remember you saying the above when they signed him. And I was worried, I didn't mind the signing when he came here, I didn't know much about him. but I was ok with it because it didn't hurt too bad. The beginning of the year had me questioning everything about him as he became the next #5 pylon. He still has to continue to show more, but he's really seemed to come around a bit. It's amazing what the talent already on this team can do for underwhelming players to make them better and not show them for as bad as they really are. I think that goes for a lot of players, Montador, Stalberg, Frolik, Scott, well... he is that bad, but you could probably even throw Bick in there... probably missing one or two. But you get the point, servicable players who are decent enough with the hawks, but probably would be horrible on other teams.

Maybe it's just me, but I've seen this coming for several games now (maybe not the power-play production since that unit was a long shot to begin with). He has been getting consistently better every game since the beginning of the season. The first 5 games I did not like him too much, but since then he has grown into a very useful player.

I don't know if he'll keep up his offensive production, but if he can continue to contribute in all the other areas of the game he will be a great asset.

Its funny we were talking about how our Dmen had no next to no goals after the Canucks debacle a week ago and then a week later were here and we got I think 7 goals from our D men the past week. Pretty fucking awesome.

I liked the Montador signing and never really got on him at the start of the year, I would like to see him lay the hurt hitting wise like he has shown he can a little more consistently though. This team could use a little mean streak in the clean and useful manner.

As it is right now, Montador is fighting, hitting, scoring, playing the PK and PP, playing D and FWD.........Dustin Byfuglien? Not really close but as of this past week he was the equivalent, and it would help out a lot if he put up even half the numbers Buff did when he would get hot.

Buff played forward with us, and never really chose to get hot or put up numbers unless it was the playoffs...or a contract year.

Yea but Buff also played D for half his time and the Preds series in 10' when Campbell was out. I really wasn't comparing but if it keeps up I wouldn't be surprised to see the comparison.

so far the only similarity i see is that they are big. If Montador phones it in all season, and steps up in the playoffs, then i will make a comparison.

I was just throwing it out there, and I'd much rather see him have a well rounded full season of production with the playoff greatness.

No issues with him thus far... does his job on a regular basis and has been exceeding expectations recently.

I think there is a comparison, if Montador keeps up his production in front of the net he is definitely our Buff.

Both are versatile in the fact that either can play F or D, both are big bodies that do their work in front of the net effectively at both ends... The only thing that may separate them is the consistency factor and possibly the emotional factor. Buff thrived in emotion, Monty seems more consistent but may not have the same emotional attributes attached to him. Also, Monty will be playing more D than F, but still I think the comparison is valid.

You pretty much just accessed my brain and put my thoughts into what I meant to say.
