I think we all knew Jeffery was a megastar after 2013. Theres no need to anoint him.

For those with long term memory loss:

Receiving Yds
1. Josh Gordon*+ · CLE 1646
2. Antonio Brown* · PIT 1499
3. Calvin Johnson*+ · DET 1492
4. Demaryius Thomas* · DEN 1430
5. A.J. Green* · CIN 1426
6. Alshon Jeffery* · CHI 1421

Btw guys, these are two NFC North WR's in the first 3 years of their careers:

WR1: 198 Receptions / 2921 Yds / 20TD
WR2: 193 Receptions / 3071 Yds / 20TD

One is going into the HoF and the other the bears fans wonder if hes just a #2.

I don't think anyone on here doubts whether or not he is good. I think some question giving him some mega contract like guys like Julio and Dez got and I think that's fair to question. ill be curious to see how he does against st Louis this coming weekend, they have a crazy good pass defense...if he lights them up itll be impressive. but it is also fair to mention how alshon got dominated by verrett and then went off after he left with an injury.

I think we will franchise him for next year.

You and everyone else don't seem to understand a basic principle at hand here. Not a single fucking wide receiver making top money is worth that contract. Megatron isn't worth the money he is being paid. Julio Jones isn't worth the money he is being paid. Dez Bryant isn't worth the money he is being paid. None of the top receivers are worth that much money. Its all a problem based on the market for superstar receivers due a new contract. You can't change that. Period. End of story, and no matter how much pouting you or anyone else does about it....the kid is still going to get paid more than he should. Whether that is by us or some other team is the only thing at play here.

well I mean in reality not a single guy in the league is "worth" what they get paid. they are all over paid, some more than others. alshon will be a bear next year no matter what though that's for sure

Jeffery is a legitimate number 1 receiver and I'm not sure what else he needs to prove. He needs to be paid like a number 1.

Plus, we've paid him 4.5 mill over the last 4 years.

KW is making 4.1m this year for sitting on his butt.

Im all for overpaying the man considering he HEAVILY outperformed his rookie contract

If we are keeping Jay, they have to find a way to keep AJ. AJ is the only WR that we have that can go and get the ball wherever Jay lobs it. Our other WR's are guys that need to be hit in stride which Jay is horrendous at.

That just isn't true. Even the up and down Wilson has made catches on seemingly overthrown passes. We also have no idea what we have in White yet. Cutler does seem to have a propensity to throw shitty high passes though the closer you get to it being a lateral pass like on screen passes. I have always ragged on him about those.

I can't believe Bears fans who still don't consider Alshon a #1 receiver. Can you guys name more than 10 receivers in the league right now that are better than Alshon? And keep in mind his youth and potential for bigger years when he gets into his prime.

You want the Bears to let go of 1 of only a handful of truly impactful players on this team? Are you joking? Did you see what that guy did last night and has done over the past 3 weeks? He is without a doubt a top 10 if not top 5 WR in the NFL.

This team cannot afford to let impact players leave, that simply digs this team into more a rebuilding project. If he finishes the year, sign him for 4-5 years at top notch WR dollars and then decide what to do with him after that pay day. By that time, White's contract will be up and we can see White can do in the NFL. You have no idea what White is going to be. He has the potential to be the next Julio Jones but who knows how he will transition.

Jeffery is a top 5 receiver, he made a couple drops. It happens. I remember watching guys like Randy Moss and Terrell Owens struggle some games way worse then the night Jeffery had last night. He is a big target with great blocking and some real talented hands. I too also liked his physicality last night once he got out muscled by Verrett, which was an obvious pass interference call, of course we didn't get it, he looked like he was on a mission. Pay the man, if the Bears are even remotely thinking Forte vs. Jeffery for a contract they are dumb as a box of rocks. Jeffery's young and in the prime of his carreer. It's way easier to find a young RB in the draft to start day 1 compared to a wideout. And with Langford/Carey playing pretty well we might not even have to look to the draft. Not to mention Antoine is a good runner if they get him into the mix we are just fine without Forte, I'll miss him but it'd be dumb to let Jeffery walk over him.

So you put him in the same class as Antonio Brown, Julio Jones, Dez Bryant, Demaryius Thomas, and Odell Beckham Jr? And better than AJ Green, Jordy Nelson, Calvin Johnson, Julian Edelman, etc? Is that correct?

Says who? This sounds like total nonsense. You are worth what someone is willing to pay you.

I would offer him 5 years 60/30 guaranteed right now, see if he can leave the money on the table.

If he wants to hold out for 5 years 70/35 guaranteed like the top guys than revisit in the offseason with the franchise tag as a backup.

He might not want the risk and may just want the money in the bank.
