Emery has absolutely loved the interviews. He feels that he is a more ready and/or knowledgeable GM. Apparently, most of the interviews were used as a means of understanding what other teams around the league are doing. This insight will be used as Emery continues his GM duties. Freaking love it..

Take it with a grain of salt, as the inside sources have been wrong before.

So Emery gets his jollies conducting interviews, huh? Weird...

And what does coaching have to do with GM duties really?

Come from B&B?

Sounds about right - Emery pulled an old Al Davis :)

I love it.

Al Davis did this all the time, let's just hope Emery makes wiser choices than Davis did.

That's how I interpreted that. Wasn't he supposed to be looking for a HC?

He used his HC search as a way to broaden his horizons.

Yes, that is exactly what EDUMB was saying! Thats why the Marc Trestman interview was 9 hours long...it took a long time for Trestman to explain to Emery what the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Edmonton Eskimos were doing.

Kiss the baby!!!!!!

I can see a bit of Emery's military background in this approach, tbh.

First aspect of tackling an issue is Intelligence - gather as much data and resources as possible. Once you have a wealth of information to draw on, you can then use it to your advantage when tackling your objective. It doesn't necessarily mean you will be completely beholden to the information, but what it can let you do in this instance is get an idea how other teams operate, which may allow you to gain an advantage over other teams if you are pursuing the same free agents, or if you need an edge on draft day to know whether you are safe standing pat on a pick, or might need to move aggressively to move up, or maybe even leak the right kind of false information to your rivals to try to influence them to jump up and grab a guy you had no intention of getting in the first place, just so the guy you really want has a better likelyhood of dropping in your lap.

Emery is gearing up for war, figuratively speaking, and I am loving it.

So what is Emery's objective? To hire a head coach, or to do some recon work for Lt. Col. Mike Tice?

Hire a head coach AND use the search to do recon for a grander purpose as well.

Its called Multi-tasking.

That is frightening! Emery is an NFL GM...he was interviewing position coaches, CFL coaches, special teams coaches, guys currently on the Bears staff, and guys who have been out of the NFL.

That would be like a guy being appointed CEO of Southwest Airlines, then he conducts interviews with the baggage handlers to get a better understanding of the CEO job.

If this is true, I can't imagine the interview Emery had with Toub...

"Dave...yeah...this is just like an obligatory interview...but have you ever run an NFL team before???"

Its nothing like that.....stop being a turd. The baggage handler isn't one or two levels away from being a CEO. A coordinator is one spot away from being a head coach, a position coach is two spots away. It would be like interviewing a senior VP for the CEOs job.

so..............
