Eh, I don’t buy into the garbage time narrative. I don’t think it was the defense that kept us competitive against Detroit and Minnesota. The offense “won” the Washington game before the defense gave up a Hail Mary.

I would also add (save for Tennessee), the offense either scored a lot of points or came up big in the 4th quarter to setup a game winning FG in our wins.
I might not be garbage time stats but if our offense flounders in three QTs, only produces in the 4th but the bears aren’t blown out that says the defense saved us

🤷🏿‍♂️ I didn’t write it
Just sayin'

Also, he is already better than the Jones'. So are they worse than busts?
Empty stats, we won 5 games last year with our defense keeping us in a majority of them
And the head coach gave away three of them, at minimum.

And McCarthy could only dream of being Sam Darnald

This is the correct list:

Caleb Williams
Ceiling: Patrick Mahomes Light
Floor: Justin Fields+

Jayden Daniels
Ceiling: Baker Mayfield
Floor: RGIII

Drake Maye
Ceiling: Trevor Lawrence
Floor: Daniel Jones

Michael Penix Jr.
Ceiling: Joe Flacco
Floor: Mitch Trubisky

J.J. McCarthy
Ceiling: Sam Darnold
Floor: Kenny Picket

Bo Nix
Ceiling: Drew Brees
Floor: Geno Smith

Incorrect. Our Receiving weapons were way better than anything Love had last year. Sure you can argue Love had a better line but Williams ultimately made ours worse by taking more sacks than necessary. I believe there was a stat line saying he accounted for 50% of his sacks last year, that’s beyond terrible

Weapons dont mean shit when your scheme is a mess

How many times have we seen lesser packers WR's running wide open because their coach actually knows how to run an offense?

Caleb arguably had a better year than jordan love last year in a situation that was a complete mess for a rookie. No clue how jordan love is his ceiling, when he would have outperformed him last year if the situations were swapped

Where is this garbage time argument coming from?

Caleb had them in position to win against Indy, Detroit Washington, Green Bay, and Minnesota. You could argue that Seattle and Houston were also winnable games.

That's seven games decided by less than a touchdown. Probably games the Bears could have won with a different coach.

Shockingly that puts them at 12 wins and a bit of optimism.

TBH i also critiqued caleb for being a poor first half QB, but a lot of that goes on coaching too.

The good offensive minds scheme up a gameplan and scripted drive or two to start games. Our genius matt waldron didnt think that was necessary...when he had a rookie fucking QB. crazy as hell

Not surprising the times caleb played the best is when it was no huddle because he could just play with natural instincts vs listening to whatever garbage flus/waldron had planned

So Caleb is already at his ceiling?

Who at PFF wrote this shit? It's stupid. I know they have some hot takes, but this take is really fucking hot.

A lot of these players play nothing like who their comparisons are

Pretty funny. PFF is hot trash. @iueyedoc 's comps make a lot more sense. To me calebs floor is kyler murray

The lowest floor should clearly be JJ since he barely did anything in college and hasnt shown anything in the NFL yet, but somehow his floor is a guy who just made the pro bowl

3,500 yards and 6 INTs with 62% completion rate.

...you gotta be a moron if you think the ceiling is Jordan Love.
In a clown show offense with no o line and multiple receivers within 2 yards of each other

Add to that he didn't have the luxury of sitting behind a HOF QB for years with the ability to learn the offense for years like Love did.

For Caleb it really comes down to three things...

1. Can Ben design the offense to maximize Caleb's strengths and minimize his weaknesses and will Caleb buy in?
2. Can the revamped OL pass protect?
3. Can Caleb get rid of the ball on time and improve his downfield accuracy?

Personally, I think the answer to all three questions is yes. At his best I think Caleb can be a top 10 QB and far better than a QB like Jordan Love.

A strong running game surely would help take some of the pressure off CW too and assist with the play action passing part of the attack too. I think the OL will be fine this year in both the passing and running games. I just am not enamored with our RB room. Time will tell.

Two games blown by Hail Mary and blocked FG. One defense couldn’t stop Vikings from scoring in OT. Another one HC mismanage the clock at end of the game. That’s at least 4 extra wins. SMH.

Jordan Love is an odd comparison for Caleb. The guy seems kind of goofy to be honest. He's not really dynamic or elusive... or particularly athletic. There's that clip of him collapsing like an idiot trying to motion someone. He's a gun slinger and risky with the ball... something Caleb was not. There's no real scenario where I picture Caleb would be anything like Love just from a style standpoint.

Also weird that JJ gets the benefit of a good coach raising his ceiling to Burrow... but one of the best minds in the NFL only raises Caleb to Jordan Love? Not a soul gave him Burrow potential last year, but somehow sitting out a year cause of injury raised his stock.

PFF is ret4rd level content meant for people too stupid or lazy to watch the NFL like @remydat

Jordan Love and Caleb are nothing alike in play styles, neither are a lot of these comps. The only thing similar between love and caleb is both have the ability to launch the ball from awkward arm angles and make some nice throws downfield.

Jordan Love's is basically the 2025 version of jay cutler. Caleb plays nothing like cutler

Caleb has all the potential in the world. His challenge will be to alter his style to a disciplined one. Changing ingrained habits will be difficult .
