Who would you take first to be on your team?

I hate the team but Henrik is just a magician with the puck.

I love Toews but I just don't see him ever being near the top in points or goal scoring.

Nothing wrong with that though as he's still one hell of a player.

You will never learn that it isn't all about points. You can go ahead and pick Sedin, that's fine - but w/ points as your only argument is poor.

Toews does all the little things right and is a winner. He is also much better defensively and I think most would argue (Even though hard to know) much more of a leader. If you want to win a Stanley Cup or in the Playoffs in general, you take Toews. If you want to win a scoring title/regular season you take Sedin.

For what it is worth, I would take Kesler over Sedin as well in this situation. Players like Kesler and Toews are winners and never hurt their team - even when they don't put up points. Sort of why I was confused about the Kesler/Toews comparison thread getting closed but this one being opened.

Also, don't know what type of debate you can get in this thread. Most people love the Blackhawks and hate the Canucks in here. Not even a fair fight.

Screw it, I'll bite.

I won't make a long case for Toews. If you need one, you're in the wrong place.

Sedin? Not so much. He's a talent that, for all anyone knows, needs to to be paired with his brother in order to play at his highest level. He's soft and he fades in big games. He's most effective and most confident when his team is leading a game. Dave Bolland is his kryptonite. He's the face of a team that has the distinct reputation of being stacked with talent that somehow manages to choke year after year. Is that all on him? Of course not- he has a headcase for a goalie and a shitty head coach. But when the going gets tough and the Canucks really need him- Henrik Sedin hasn't been there. But boy, those regular season stats are strong.

Has Sedin ever scored a goal like Toews' game 7 tying goal last year?

No, but Sedin has done this.

Toews. He's won the cup, he's a great leader and he is clutch in the playoffs.

Toews has already won more than Sedin ever will.

Isnt this when a mod comes in and says that this thread is ridiculous/pointless and closes it? Personally I don't care, but it was done in a Kesler/Toews comparison thread...which would have atleast been closer and better discussion.

Any similar thread featuring a Hawk player is a little ridiculous given the location. And yeah, a Kessler Toews comparison is a bit more reasonable.

But there aren't any sweet videos of Kessler taking hilariously weak dives. :elephant:

Burrows on the other hand... he's a goldmine! Let's do a Burrows / Sharp one.

Toews all day. He is a better two way center with an all around game. NHL centers that can play two way hockey are becoming a premium on teams.

It's very hard to be unbiased in this situation but I still think I would pick Toews. Obviously I get to see him play a lot more than Sedin.

Toews is hard working, as a high Hockey IQ and is just a winner on the ice. If I had to rely someone to bail me out in the clutch it would be Toews.

Sedin on the other hand disappears in big game moments and that isn't what you want from your leader. I don't know if Toews will ever be as much of a point producer as Henrik but I'd rather take all of Toews other talents than Sedins scoring.

Depends for one season or starting a franchise with a number of seasons to go?

I would prefer Sedin for a game/season, but if I'm starting a franchise, give me Toews.

Toews has more leadership in his pinky than Sedin has in his whole body and his sisters'
