I figure this will be a fun thread. We can use it to throw out line combos for the season, and see all the shit Q comes up with as well.

Right now, I'm fairly confused about what our lines are going to look like. There are still two RFAs out there, in Frolik and Campoli. Assuming both are brought back, this is what we're looking at:

Forwards:

1) Toews

2) Kane

3) Hossa

4) Sharp

5) Bolland

6) Olesz?

7) Brunette

8) Stalberg

9) Smith?

10) Carcillo

11) Mayers

12) Bickell

13) Scott

14) Morin?

15) Frolik??

16) Kruger???

Defense:

1) Seabrook

2) Keith

3) Hjalmarsson

4) Montador

5) Leddy

6) O'Donnell

7) Campoli??

The defense I believe will be in great shape, assuming they get Campoli signed. Looks to me like there is an overabundance of fourth liners, and the Hawks are lacking up the middle. Again. Who is going to play LW with Toews and Kane if Sharp is our 2C? Bickell? Morin? Olesz? Brunette? Who is going to play LW with Sharp and Hossa?

My greatest fear is that we will see a combination of Stalberg/Olesz/Bickell in the top six as a LW... This lineup is questionable assuming the Hawks go the entire season without an injury to our top six and Bolland. That is extremely unlikely. This team is an injury or two from being out of the playoffs next season, as it stands. IMO, of course. Our center depth is absolutely atrocious... Hell, right now we really only have three centers, including Sharp. Kruger is a huge question mark. Mayers CAN play center, but he's really not a center. Still a lot of time left, but really not much help out there unless you make a trade.

Bickell/Toews/Kane

Brunett/Sharp/Hossa

Olesz/Bolland/Smith

Carcillo/Mayers/Scott?

LW reserve = Stalberg Morin on call up duties on LW? Morin plays LW yes?

Frolik if signed would probably replace Smith (as much as I hate saying that)placing Smith back on the farm and available for call up duties. I do think we will see all 4 of these LWers sliding up and down all over the place this season. RWers should be a bit more stable.

Kruger? I didn't see much from him late last year to imagine him having a starting spot on the roster. Not NHL ready. That's not throwing him to the wolves he just needs more NA ice time..that's what the farms for.

I have no freaking idea. Trying to use players in their natural positions here. No more RWers playing LW please.

Have no idea what line juggling Q will do but I assume we will see these type of lines a lot. I have a lot of doubt of Frolik being signed at this point (I am sure the Hawks are waiting for the Campoli issue to resolve first).

As for the blueline

Keith/Seabs

Hjammer/Leddy

Campoli/Montadore

reserve = O'Donnell

Maybe slide Leddy and Montadore but otherwise this is probably it if Campoli signs. If not? Well we have a small hole on the top 6 in my opinion.

Going with officials active roster here as it currently stands. I expect a trade for a 2C, so hopefully this will be significnatly changed.

Brunette-Toews-Kane

Olezs-Sharp-Hossa

Bickell-Bolland-Frolik

Carcillo-Mayer-Stalberg

Scott

Defense

Teef-Seabs

Hammer-Leddy

Campoli-Montador

O'Donnell

Crow

Salak

Not hopeful regqarding Campoli. Think he will be a sign and trade, hopefully with Olecz and Beach maybe with a pick for a 2C?

Smith, Hayes, Morin, Kruger, Pirri all likely call-ups form the Hogs for forwards. Stanton, Lalonde, Olsen on D.

I really hope they are planning on a trade for a Center as well. I also really hope Ben Smith gets a shot.

Missing anyone? Of course if Kruger/Morin impress enough, look for Olesz/Stalberg to be moved out to make room.

I completely forgot how good Bickell/Bolland/Frolik was against Vancouver, definitely need to keep them together. Honestly can't ice this team without the 2nd line center.

Sharp/Toews/Kane

Brunette/Trade/Hossa

Bickell/Bollland/Frolik

Carcillo/Mayers/Stalberg or Smith

Keith/Seabrook

Leddy/Hjammer

Montador/O'Donnell

I agree, I don't see Campoli on this team next year, I think he's gonna be in the same boat Niemi was in last year with the arbitrator.

To me this is still moot until closer to the season when we see what other deals shake out and who else signs and such. I have a feeling anything in this thread will drastically change by pre-season.

I don't think you'll see any of the young players start with the club - even Smith.

I know he played well in the playoffs, but he was up on an emergency call up due to the slew of injuries.

In true "DET" fashion - which is what the Hawks want to be, in terms of their longevity - players do not usually get the the club until 24ish. Smith, Morin, Kruger probably can play and learn on the job, but I think they'll go back to Rockford.

FORWARDS

Andrew Brunette ($2.000m) / Jonathan Toews ($6.300m) / Patrick Kane ($6.300m)

Bryan Bickell ($0.541m) / Dave Bolland ($3.375m) / Michael Frolik ($2.500m)

Rostislav Olesz ($3.125m) / Patrick Sharp ($3.900m) / Marian Hossa ($5.275m)

Daniel Carcillo ($0.775m) / Jamal Mayers ($0.550m) / Viktor Stalberg ($0.875m)

DEFENSEMEN

Brent Seabrook ($5.800m) / Duncan Keith ($5.538m)

Niklas Hjalmarsson ($3.500m) / Steve Montador ($2.750m)

Nick Leddy ($1.116m) / Sean O'Donnell ($0.850m)

John Scott ($0.512m) / Chris Campoli ($2.500m)

GOALTENDERS

Corey Crawford ($2.666m) / Alexander Salak ($0.612m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,363,462; BONUSES: $325,000

CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $2,936,538

That's if Campoli/Frolik sign for a high estimation of 5mil combined. I think there will be another center acquired before camp..having roughly 3mil available.

I take it that 4th d pairing is on the bench as fill ins for injuries and when we need extra toughness and such?

Yeah...I think Scott can/will see time at wing...acquiring 1 more center, will put the roster at 23

Yeah, I can see that. But acquiring another center shakes everything up as STK goes back together, it has to.

I was going to guess Brunette-Toews-Kane for the top line, and here's what Jahns just posted:

adamjahns Adam Jahns

Based on talks w/ SB & JQ, look for these #Blackhawks lines early on in season: Brunette-19-88, 57-10-81, 67-36-29, Carcillo-16-25/Mayers

Not really interesting as it's been discgussed he's hurt and will probably miss some time at the begining of the year. More interesting is that they penciled in Frolik and Smith. And STALBERG /KRUGER AS A 4th LINE CENTER?

I can't see how they could bury him in Eurockford....

I mean, with Huey's 5.625..then his 3.125...8.75mil to do nothing? Rocky cant like that, and I wouldn't blame him.

Although, they saved about 24mil in that trade over the length

Maybe they really don't know where he'll fit in?

Yeah, so, we still need to find a center from somewhere. I'm not comfortable with Mayers being our fourth line center, at his age. I'm really, REALLY not comfortable if we're icing Kruger AND Mayers as two of our centers.

Something has to give. Maybe the Hawks are hoping one of their other young guys is ready. McNeil, Hayes?
