I can agree with that. I think the Hawks want Jimmy Hayes to start off in Rockford and hes a winger, but McNeill has a realistic shot at making the team I would think and I hope he does. He might be able to handle 3rd line duties if he keeps working his ass off.

I can't see how they could bury him in Eurockford....

I mean, with Huey's 5.625..then his 3.125...8.75mil to do nothing? Rocky cant like that, and I wouldn't blame him.

Although, they saved about 24mil in that trade over the length

Maybe they really don't know where he'll fit in?

Again, he's not on the list because he's currently on IR.

Isn't it too early to say where everyone should be? Training camp ought to show how these pieces fit. Until then we are all pretty much talking out of our ass.

McNeill has pretty much been written off by everybody because he had a bad scrimmage the other day.

Assuming they are truly adopting a Redwings like development philosophy I'd bet on him going back to juniors for another year.

JQ on center situation: "I think we’re a special team when you have [Dave Bolland] slotted as a third-line center."

As of now, that means Sharp is the 2nd line center.

I'm fine with that, as long as somewhere along the way we find a good fit for Toews/Kane.

I have always been fine with Toews/Sharp/Bolland as our depth centers. Add in now Mayers as the 4th line center and to be honest there aren't many teams in the league with that sort of center talent through the lines that fit so perfectly. It's pretty freaking sweet. That is if it stays healthy.

I know the arguments. Sharp prefers wing. It's nice having Sharp play LW where that scoring punch is also needed. Well we all know that Sharp is a very capable center and he proves this time and time again. Hopefully Brunnett can add a little more depth to the LW and hopefully a guy like Bickell can up his game this season. Can't see why he wouldn't. I think last season was a good learning season for Bickell and frankly I think out of all the new full time roster players last season Bickell was the one that showed the most promise moving forward. Some of his flashes were brilliant. We just need some of those flashes to become constants.

If we get a healthy Hossa this season the RW position is solid on the top 2 lines. Kane and Hossa? Could you ask for better? This is where the Frolik signing becomes so important. We need that 3rd line RW...or rather..it would be nice.

The biggest hole with Sharp at center is LW. The biggest hole when Sharp plays LW is center. Soooooooo what hole do you prefer? That's pretty much the question.

This again proves how vital Sharp is to this team. Imagine if we didn't have his versatility?

I have a lot of faith in Bickell, I agree that he should improve. I hope that he can take Brouwers spot as that physical winger.

As far as Sharp playing center, we won the Cup with him as our 2nd line C and he should have no problem filling that role. I agree that Sharp is very important to the club. IMO we mus re-sign him, he is just as important Toews, Kane, or Hossa when it comes to forwards. In fact, I think he is the 2nd most important forward on this team at this time.

Most probably don't agree with that, but I'm willing to take the beating on that.

From the way Quenneville and Bowman talked on Monday, Sharp will play center unless Marcus Kruger or Ben Smith show at training camp they can fill the role. Michael Frolik also has played center.

“We do have a lot of players who can play in that situation,” Quenneville said.

There's still a chance the Hawks trade for a No. 2 center, but it would have to be a significant deal.

“People always want to say Patrick Sharp isn't a center, but he's done it the last couple years,” Bowman said. “We won a Stanley Cup with Patrick playing in the middle so that's always an option.”

Granted it's the same Jesse Rogers that blogged two weeks ago that Campoli and Frolik were signing soon...

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/blackhawks/post/_/id/4667348/bowman-confident-in-his-young-centers

It's believed Joel Quenneville wanted Kruger to start last year with the Hawks and would have made him their third line center. Expect that to be his role when this season starts, which means Patrick Sharp doesn't have to start the year in the middle.

Though the Hawks say they're happy with what they have, it doesn't mean they didn't try to get better.

"We talked to a number of people," Bowman explained. "It's hard to find centers, and they get tons of money.

"We wouldn't have done some of the other things I thought we needed to do if we went out and spent $3.5 million on a center. I mean, I agree center is a very important position. It is the strength of our prospects right now. It's in the middle. We have [Kevin] Hayes, [Mak] McNeill, Phillip Danault. If we are talking a year or two from now we are going to be trying to be moving guys to the wing as opposed to looking for centers."

As for Ryan Johnson or John Madden or another center, there's simply no room right now, according to Bowman.

"We have 14 forwards right now who are in the mix for our team," he said. "We don't want to block out too many guys. That's why I signed all these guys to one-year contracts.

Kane-Toews-Brunette

Olesz-Sharp-Hossa

Bickell-Bolland-Frolik

Carcillo-Mayers-Scott

Keith-Seabrook

Montador-Leddy

Lepisto-Hjalmersson

Crawford

Emery

I think Olesz will shine in this role, and in the Indianhead. I wouldn't be surprised if he reminded us of Tuomo with more offensive upside.

Frolik-Bolland-Bickell

Stalberg-Smith-Olesz

Carcillo/Mayers

Keith-Seabrook

Hjalmarsson-Leddy

I would really like to see Morin start with Rockford again seeing as he missed a lot of the season due to injury. Another year in the minors wouldn't hurt a lot of the youngsters.

Carcillo-Toews-Kane -> I honestly think Carcillo could become a 30 points guy with these two and open up space.

Brunette-Sharp-Hossa

Frolik-Bolland-Bickell

Smith-Mayers-Olesz

Stahlberg and Scott as scratches.

Keith-Seabrook

Hjalmarsson-Leddy

Lepisto-Montador

O'Donnell->Scratch

Crawford

Emery

Salak to the AHL for some polishing up his game.

glad someone agrees. He's going to be one of 400 players that play great after leaving Florida.
