But they’re only in this situation because they put themselves in it, is my point.

This is what happens when you give up a 4th for mediocre statues like Foles and refuse to draft developmental guys.

He’s drafted one. The way he’s handled the position is stupid.
OK

It is funny that Wilson wants to get away from Pete but that's who nixed the trade. Shit I would offer the same for Watson

Yep. He blew it when drafted Trubisky. And then doubled down on the Mack trade as if Mitch was the guy. He left himself no wiggle room. It's going to take a few years to recover from that.

He can get the wiggle room back if he doesn't trade up.
no doubt but I think we were all hapoy with the Mack trade. Basically a 1 and a 2 seemed reasonable.

Seattle wasnt trading Wilson prior to June due to the cap reasons.

That leaves them no QB option as it's after the draft a way after FA.

Dalton becomes part of the deal to Seattle after June 1.

This deal is no more alive or dead than it was before the signing of Dalton.

I’m not much of a cap guy. Would the next GM have opportunities to save a good amount of money for the cap space? I’d be fine with cleaning house if it creates cap room for another rebuild.
BTW its scary that McCaskey has given Ryan Pace the ok to send away 3 first round picks in a year where any competent organization would have fired him.

Only the Bears.

Very scary. Doing so for a proven QB like Wilson is one thing, moving a couple firsts (potentially) to move up for a qb in the draft based on Pace's qb track-record is downright football terrifying.

I'm trying to be realistic I thought this had about a 10% chance anyway but I don't get how the Dalton signing changes things so much.

I’m surprised Seattle passed on that offer honestly, that team is going nowhere fast and they don’t have picks to improve. 49ers are coming back and might even get Watson, Rams and cardinals won’t be slouches either. Perfect time to get Max value and rebuild for them.

I like that they can cut Dalton for 1-2 million at anytime. I don’t think they will because that is just tossing away $10 million which is I believe more than it would have cost ownership just to dump these two goofs in January.

If I’m Pace I’m making a call on draft day and offering 4 1sts straight up, no players or extra picks. Then on June 1st come back with the 3 1sts and 2 3rds offer/player. Last time I’ll make that offer if this is next year don’t expect 3 1sts from me.

That’s the concern here because I think they will trade up. Get it wrong (again) and that’s another several years of setting the franchise back due to stupid decisions on one fucking position.

I can’t rationalize the Dalton pick up. It’s just more bad decision making to try cover up past errors.

I really don't think they are going to trade up. I don't think a deal is in the works for Foles at this point in time. I don't think they want to eff around with a rookie when their jobs are on the line. The only QB that will hit the ground running is Lawrence (maybe Fields on the right team, not the Bears with Nagy), everyone else is a project - they don't have time for projects, that was Mitch.

Both QBs have a career 87 rating. If one guy gets injured another vet steps in. Neither are very mobile. This seems to be what Nagy wants.

The best thing here is if Nagy makes two average QBs worse - there's no reason not to fire him. He couldn't develop Mitch, Foles regressed to an 80 rating, if Dalton regresses far past an 85 rating - bye bye Nagy. (I have no doubt o-line upgrades are coming, so there's no o-line excuse either.)

Not to mention the reports that Schneider and pace met in Fargo to discuss trade and bears only offer 3 1st, a second a two players?

That's contrary to the reports that the Bears were gonna make an offer the could not be refused. Sorry, but I don't think that sounds like enough for Wilson either.

But both fly to desolate, cold ass Fargo just to throw that offer on the table, reject and fly home?

There's way more to this story

I have zero faith in them. Whatever the wrong thing is, they’ll do it. They’d pick the one poison apple in the bunch every time.
