I like Shaw better than Carcillo... that said, I think Stalberg/Kruger/Frolik is a tempting line to throw out there. I think Shaw should stick on the 4th line until he shows some finish.

I like Kruger where he is right now. Limited ice time and playing lots of PK where he has so far been stellar. Im far from being sold on Kruger being anything of a full time 3rd line center. I like where he is right now and I would like that to continue. Personal taste. Im happy with Frolik as is right now also. 2 games in and I see no reason to fiddle with the current formulas or lines..not until they start to stumble.

Not saying to fiddle, just saying give Kruger/Frolik more ice time. They obviously have some chemistry, Bollig isn't helping (just as Carcillo wasn't the best option for Toews/Hossa, I thought Saad was slotted there and was much better, same thing applies with Stalberg stuck on the 3rd line instead of the current 4th line). At this point, Shaw is a top-six forward. I would rather see Stalberg get into that spot and Kruger/Frolik see more ice-time with Stalberg. How many times in the last two games did we see how effective that 4th line is? Time for a promotion, they deserve it.

That said, I could tell Q was starting to give Kruger a couple opportunities on the 3rd line... I hope Frolik finds his way there too.

I thought Saad looked good too on the first line.

Good to see Keith/Seabs get a little less time to stay fresh. Roll them lines!

He was on fire at the start of last year too. Let's hope he keeps it up (so to speak).

Well it's not like he was all meh after the start of the last season---he was the Hawks leading scorer for the regular season after all.

I have red & green bowling shoes I wore home from a bowling lane when I was in college. About 10 of us went bowling, did ludes, had multiple drinks at the lane's bar, and kept falling down whilst we bowled. The next day I woke up and had red & green bowling shoes on. I hope I at least paid my bill. good times.

But he was burning up the league at the start. Finished up 30 points behind Malkin.

Yes but does anyone expect at this point in their respective careers for Hossa to be challenging Geno for the Art Ross? I adore Hossa THE MOSTEST natch but Geno's one of my favorite players but I expect a healthy Malkin to kick everyone's ass scoring-wise---he worked really hard to rehabilitate that knee and he came back even studlier than ever. When healthy he's the star of the Penguins and the League for me. I'll gleefully take a Hossa on the Hawks who plays 81 games for the Hawks and leads in scoring. . .or **** is even 2nd in scoring! Don't get me wrong, he was soooooooo close to a PPG average I was a little crushed for him but let's get real 77 pts. is nothing to sneeze at.

Don't get me wrong, either (iether), He had an excellent season, it's just that he came flying out of the box last (and he's doing it again this season), you just wish he could keep it up (so to speak, hehe) all season long.

All they need....is average goaltending. Just be average and not pathetic.

I don't like that line of thinking...it'll come back to bite us in the butt when we hit some rough patches. And, believe me, we WILL hit them. We'll need our goaltending to bail us out on occasion, and, from what I saw tonight, that ain't gonna happen....

My God, you are such a spoiled and greedy little mo-fo!

Yes, of course I *wish* it but other than say a Geno or even what Stamkos did what I am saying is that type of pace he had early on is usually unsustainable. Even as his MOST ardent fangirl I knew Hossa wouldn't look like that forever just like the current hot start won't last forever. I just enjoy them for what they are while they last and then wish for a repeat of last season in terms of health and that he just keeps accumulating and contributing pts. at a steady clip all season. My primary fangirl goal is always the more basic or dare I say human PPG average! LOL He might have been 30 goals behind Geno but he was still 12th in League and 2nd in the Western Conf. for pts.

It was our back-up in the net... what did you expect?

My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I wasn't bitching about Emery but damn there were a couple plays where I should have. He can't control rebounds worth a damn til that last one in the 3rd period. I think that was more rust than anything else, really.

Otherwise, he needs to kiss his goal posts tonight. They saved him at least twice tonight.

He owes them a can of red Rustoleum.

I noticed Shaw all night. Was I drunk? He had lots of good chances up front and was forechecking well. Once he starts finishing those chances more its all going to be good good good. Its a new 3rd line give them more than 2 games to gell. I actually like that line and see great potential if it is left a lone for a while. Stalberg and Shaw will work well together if given the right amount of time to develop.

How good is Bolland so far as the second line center. For those who were worried about him losing his edge playing the second line? Foolish. Guys feisty as ever and opening space for both Kane and Sharp. This is a good good line.

This teams PK is dynamite so far also. I am enjoying both PK lines out there.

Many of us who wanted Bolland on the 3rd line didn't say so because we didn't think he could handle it--we just though whomever would step into the #3c role wouldn't be able to sniff his jock, much less reasonably fill his role. Last year Kruger scared me in that role. But, in all fairness, this year Kruger looks right at home there. I hope both of them keep it up because the a lot of our center depth questions are answered.

I don't like that line of thinking...it'll come back to bite us in the butt when we hit some rough patches. And, believe me, we WILL hit them. We'll need our goaltending to bail us out on occasion, and, from what I saw tonight, that ain't gonna happen....

Anytime the goaltending needs to bail the team out means the team D screwed the pooch. IMHO whether ot not the goalie bails out the team D for a fuckup doesn't mean that the team D gets a pass. For instance last night: Yes, ride Emery for goal #1, but also ride Keith for his patented NHL 11 Pass to Nowhere™ that got intercepted (which has been a hallmark of his play for the past 2 seasons). Now, if Emery makes that save, it doesn't let Keith off the hook (an all-star and Norris winning d-man), from making a mistake you'd expect from a rookie or soph-level d-man.

That being said, in a +/-50 rating system (+50 being Tretiak, 0 being average, and -50 being wet Charmin™) in how they looked in their statistically-insignificant amount of games played so far, I'd give Crawford a +7 and Emery a -15. Crawford does look more comfortable and better thus far, but again, wasn't really tested at all except for a great shoulder save. Emery was pretty rusty.

I would expect better than what we saw. Universally, I'm seeing everyone saying Emery was crap last night. If it weren't for the iron, we'd probably have lost the game. What I'm saying is that BOTH Crow and Emery will have to bail us out on a given night. And what I saw last night was either a very rusty backup netminder or one who can't be counted on to help us out for the entire season...

Two games into the season, our back-up was playing against a team that went to the Western Conference Finals last season. I'd say we are alright considering we pelted two of the best goaltenders in the West with a combined 11 goals -- maybe those teams should be worrying about their goalie situations instead.

Other goaltenders struggling: Lundqvist was pulled last night... Cam Ward let in 4 goals on 12 shots... Jimmy Howard let in 5 goals on 23 shots... Schneider's save percentage is under 65% and already lost his starting job... Holtby let in 6 goals his first game.

I'm not worried at all about our back-up as long as Corey plays well.
