Very hard to have a rookie come in and take top 4 minutes. I do like how Leddy played tonight but it's a lot to ask of him.

I'm hoping for good news tomorrow or Sunday but it could always be worse once an MRI is done....

For the game I thought the Hawks played well. 3-4 posts and Fleury made just some crazy saves in the first. Hawks came out all over them.

I liked Morin-Sharp-Kane. Was a good and dangerous line most of the night.

Hossa, what can you say. He is a monster, and probably in the top 1-2 best two way players in the game.

Kaner went roof top. I can't remember that. Q also had him practicing the Point on the PP some.

Thought for the most part Scott looked good.

Pens sat most of their big guns, but even had they iced them I think the Hawks are the better team.

Brouwer looked awesome too. Man he made a move in front of fleury jocking two defenders in the first only to hit the post. Would have been a highlight reel goal had he scored. Was good all game.
Kane's goal was nice, but is his dad ever going to clap for him when he scores....and this is concern from my wife, not me.

Morin - Sharp - Kane was a good line, so was Bickell - Bolland - Pisani. Nice 3rd line for the team if Q keeps it.

Scott did not look to bad. I am pleasantly surprised at his skating ability as I have been told it was worse than Buff's 3 years ago. Got a chuckle out of Scott pinching in the 1st.

Better question why was your wife paying attention to my seats instead of the game?

Observations from first live viewing of team Friday night.

1. Buscuit. What actual skating ability of Scott's did you see?

2. Glad to see the stench from the previous owner of #25 was left in that jersey so that the newest #25 stinks to high heaven. OMG is he awful. He has no business on the opening night roster.

3. Pleasently surprised with Crawford. We'll see how that works out over the year. Not many options so i can live with that.

4. Hey Q, WTF. It's a 4-0 game in the 3rd and you have another PP. Why send out 2 and 10 to play the points again? Why not give Leddy a chance on the PP to see what he can do.

5. I still have yet to see Crosby play live. Another fucking day to day injury. HA

6. And finally it was preseason so seeing PK in shorts and no sportcoat was a bit much for me but i'll let it slide; watching RK trash a ref meant hockey must be back for another season.
Something I don't understand. There are highlights from the game, with all the usual camera angles. The Red Light was on and off by the penalty boxes as if the game were televised.

If that's so why exactly was it not on local TV? Because they "chose" not to broadcast it? I mean they just spent over 6 mil on rings and 5.6 mil on eating Huet, and chose not to broadcast this game?

Strange unless I'm missing something here.
They dont want to lose baseball viewers by sharing preseason hockey is what i was told.

I thought Stahlberg had some good plays but I have not been very impressed with him. He missed half the net and hit the post in the first. On what was a pretty good move.

Surprised you didn't mention your boy Brouwer. Had he scored on that move he made in the first it would have been a highlight goal of the preseason for sure.

And the baseball thing makes sense. It was definitely ran as if it were televised. No reason it wasn't. There were 19000 fans there.

No need to mention players who perform at their capabilities. Brouwer is so versatile it makes his value so much greater. He wont be back next year due to our cap problems so I see him working for a new long term contract elsewehere. Been driving the Brouwer bus for quite awhile (with Nana has my trusty sidekick) and he keeps getting better.

Not that Scott was an awesome skater, just adequate...considering I had been hearing that he was far worse, so I found it a pleasant surprise.

What should we wager on that? They will get back the 4 mil overage from this year back. That will be enough for both Brouwer and Seabrook. So if they want him back, they'll be able to afford him.

They are under the Cap right now due to Turco's awesome contract and some other's taking less money in order for a chance to win.

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
concerning Campbell...

****!!!!!

There. now that that's out of the way, good luck Leddy. And here's hoping the 'hawks management doesn't do the douchebag thing and play Cullimore.

 • Agreed! He's definitely a step above Matt "I have concrete in my skates" Walker.
 • As far as Stalberg goes I've been watching him at our 2 home preseason games and am hoping its still to early to judge him, he pulled up very soft on a couple of hits he could have made. His overall play looks like something is holding him back from opening up and skating all out.
 • I predict Stalberg will be a disappointment and Morin could be a surprise, I don't think anyone expected him to make the team out of camp but it looks like he could.

Did Scott lay any big hits?

Also... the Campbell injury, how did it go down? Was it on a hit or did he just fall wrong?

I thought Scott was the most physical Hawk last night. Considering the Pens had Godard, Rupp and the hack Cooke dressed I was glad to have Scott out there. He skates and handles the puck much better than Koci and will deter the other team from taking cheap shots.

The only real cheap shot I saw was Rupp, which he was called for and Kane made them pay with the PP goal shortly after.

Campbells injury happened at the far blue line just past the Hawks P box. Looked like what ever happened was from a hit on the boards there.

Scott manhandled Talbot with a hit. it was like watching King Kong swat a plane away.

I no longer worry about hacks running the Hawks with Scott, Brickell, and Brouwer and yes, even Boynton dressed.

I'm with you... Why would Brouwer NOT come back, is the question... He's a fucking RFA after this season, and he doesn't make much right now. Is someone seriously going to offer sheet him? Doubtful, unless he puts up 30 goals this year. Brouwer will be back in 2011-2012. No question about it. It would likely only take a 2M per season contract too, if that.

That's right... we'll need to resurrect our Brouwer Appreciation thread soon.
