And in other Hawks-related winning news today, Hayes Bro 1 (Kevin) and Hayes Bro 2 (Jimmy) were impressive in their Boston College exhibition game today.

Men's Hockey Earns 8-0 Exhibition Win Over University of Toronto

Eagles open 2010-11 regular-season campaign at Northeastern on Saturday, Oct. 9

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Sophomore Steven Whitney registered a game-high four points - one goal and three assists - and eight different Boston College players scored to lead the Eagles to an 8-0 exhibition victory over the University of Toronto in Kelley Rink on Sunday.

Freshman Kevin Hayes tallied three points (one goal and two assists) while sophomore Patch Alber (two assists), junior Cam Atkinson (two assists) and captain Joe Whitney (one goal, one assist) each enjoyed multiple-point efforts for the victors. . .

. . .Jimmy Hayes and Philip Samuelsson each tallied one goal in the final frame.

John Muse, Parker Milner and Chris Venti combined to make 13 saves. Each goaltender saw one period of action.

The Eagles attempted 17 shots in each of the first two periods and finished with a 43-13 advantage.

Boston College will next open the regular season at Northeastern on Saturday, Oct. 9. It will then travel to Denver, last winter's Western College Hockey Association regular-season champion, for two games - on Oct. 15 & 16 - and visit South Bend, Ind., to face Notre Dame on Oct. 23 before it returns to Conte Forum/Kelley Rink on Oct. 29.

The Oct. 29 home contest against Merrimack will mark the team's home-opening game. BC will raise its national-championship banner that same night as a final salute to last year's title team.

For the game tonight I got the idea they were trying to go through the motions without getting hurt.

As 5 minutes said last night looking at the numbers is pretty comical. There was a point tonight where there was an entire line on the ice of new guys. With Dowell included. Funny shit!

Leddy looked very decent again other than on the PP Point. Q please don't put the pressure of being on the Point so early. We saw how that worked with Savvy and Kane and it never turned out well. Might now with kane though, never know.

Turco caused a goal for by playing the puck and a goal against by playing a puck. Should be interesting seeing how many of each way he gets this year.

Blues were skating not to get hurt too for the most part. No hack from jackman or Jansson. first time for everything.

Kopecky looks even better than he did after the Olympics last year. He can most certainly play Buff in front of the net.

I don't mind Scott. He handles the puck and keeps other teams honest. He and Jansson had a chat right in front of us and I swear Jansson wanted no part of him. As long as he doesn't fubar the puck I'd take him over Boynton.

Funny story..... Between the 1st and 2nd they missed two clear tripping on the blues. Infact the one tripping they did call against them was no where near as obvious as the two they didn't. So I ventured over to the tunnel and said, "Hey Kozari, nice to see you are in MID SEASON Form sucking already"... he looked at me, laughed and THREW the game puck at me that he had just picked up off the ice!

God I love this game!!! HAHAHAHAAHA! Bring the REAL SEASON ON!!!!

STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!

WGN is simply awful. I don't know how many of you watched it but I stupidly subjected myself to the second intermission story about "getting to know the new players." Thing was, GN couldn't get anybody right. They showed Scott but put Turco's name on the screen; they spelled PK's name "Kayne;" and when did we pick up "Martin" Hossa?

In a lot of ways I'm glad most of the WGN games aren't shown on Center Ice. The feed from the other team is usually more palatable than what WGN is doing. Ugh.

It was a total quality-control and wholly incompetent clusterfuck. I noticed all that and as an extreme Hossa fangurl naturally I was all aggrieved and indignant about that "Martin" crap. LOL!

But seriously, they ARE incompetent. Besides that horrible Hawks segment I also caught that they aired a Bulls commercial touting Carlos Boozer's pre-season debut with the Bulls this coming Friday when ya know, in fact it was announced everywhere since Sat. that he broke his pinkie and will be out for 8 weeks. I wish they could get a clue all around.

At least the camera work is top notch...

It always makes me laugh when you say you are an extreme Hossa fangurl.

I like how the camera pans in on two attractive girls and all of a sudden there's RK standing up in front of them. Good timing, lol.
