Lets not write Stalberg off people. He's going to get first crack because he's played 1 year of pro Hockey already and had very good speed and 9g in 40gms.

I'd rather Makarov/Morin start in the AHL rather than Poltuny, Dowell, Bickell...or any other 4th liners that will see spot duty - 8-9min a game. Both those guys should be PP guys. But with Toews, Kane, Sharp, Hossa....prob Brouwer/Kopecky (Bickell as well?) - who both sit in front of the net very well....where would those 2 get the PP time?
I agree that Poltuny, Dowell and Bickell should all be up with the Hawks on the 4th line before Morin or Makarov. No reason to stunt development.

Morin and Makarov should never be on the 4th line. Just like he shouldn't have been last night. If that's where they are going to put either, send them down the road where they can actually get TOI.

I guess I'm the only one who didn't see Stalberg sucking the giant **** last night. I though he made a couple real nice defensive neutral zone plays. Maybe it's because I'm not expecting him to add instant offense?

I realize the depth is gone and it may take a while to get back. As fans we were damn luckey to have a guy like Versteeg on the 3rd line.

Agreed on Stalberg, I thought he was a nice compliment on that line.

He didn't really stand out to me [which is a good thing, that means he didn't make any glaring mistakes.]

I think it was mentioned before by someone, but I think once Stalberg "clicks" with someone he'll be alright.

from the looks/sounds of things, there are a few players who should make the team before Stalberg (Skille, Makarov...even Morin) I just hope Stalberg doesn't get a spot just because of the trade.

And some people think the Red Wings arent that old? Check out this morning's Ice Chips from TSN:

Forward Mike Modano and goaltender Chris Osgood are expected to be ready to practice on Tuesday. Mondano didn't suit up on Sunday because he was feeling tight and sore. Osgood was also sore after playing Saturday night in Chicago. - Detroit News

Sore labias and roast beef curtains.

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
Well, the 1st two periods looked good. I missed the 3rd seeing the T-bird home opener against the Winterhawks. As for scouting there, if his WHL play is any indication, We should have got Calvin Pickard.

How was Hossa's SHG?

Also, with the other moves to Rockford...could someone in the know please tell me why Cullimore wasn't moved down as well?

Went right through Osgoods five hole. Osgood was very good in the first or the game would have been out of hand score wise.
Hell Kopecky got over 3 minutes on the PP. Why not put Makarov there? Better yet, you know what Kopecky brings, why not put him with the kids on the 4th and see what Makarov can do with JT and Hossa?

Why? I have a feeling it's political because that can be the ONLY reason by how Makarov performed in both the Rookie Tourney and Camp. What other explanation is there?

As for Lalonde, he's not ready. That was one of the worst defensive plays I've seen since Cullimore put one past Turco in game #1.
Maybe it's because he wasn't a "Stan" pick and McDouche isn't able to claim credit for it.

I agree though, I was really pissed off about the minutes he played.

Edit: I had only read through about half of the thread pages.

It looks like others already made similar posts.

Yes, Stan and Mcdonough told Q before the game, to dress Makarov, but dont play him.

Wait - who picked up Didomenco in a trade, and he played less than Igor?

I'm sure Mak will get more ice time in the next game, I wouldn't doubt them putting players like Skille and Stalberg up front to see what they could do while seeing how Mak does in a checking role. Either that, I think Mak is better than Stalberg, and Stalberg should start in the Rock, not Mak.
