If Jenkins stayed healthy he would still be here.
Thorn ranked him higher than Banks for free agents and he knows what he’s doing. The money says something very different though.
I do wonder where Tev’s head is at. It must be something to go from probably thinking you deserve big money to taking a back up role. Man…

Doubt it.If Jenkins stayed healthy he would still be here.
These reasons above play into the thread title. Fans loved Jenkins despite the above. Jenkins wasn’t great.Tev didnt get money because he's a walking injury
If he stayed healthy he would have made 10m+. He's a liability
Coleman may not be good but he's been healthy and reliable.
I expected him to get more but it shouldnt be shocking to see a guy who has a history of neck and back injuries who is constantly hurt to not get a contract worth shit.
He basically signed to be a backup. Sad times because I would have loved him back for 3m/yr but I doubt he wanted to come back
But he didn’t and that’s why he is gone. That’s why he wasn’t a good player. If Jenkins stayed healthy he would still be here.
Those salaries prove both are trash
This is why the Bears still need to address the OT position and I think they will at some point.Bears fans always overrate their own. I remember reading last spring that the OL would be better due to a better/different QB and we learned that was a fallacy. Right now, the OL is one injury away at OT from being in deep doo-doo again. Those who think Kiran is the future will disagree with me there but I expect Kiran to fit perfectly into this over valuing homerism discussion too.
Remember the discussion last offseason about the team having 3 1000 yard WRs too? Yikes.
Viable backup. Situational starter. Pay is commensurate.Shelton got himself a decent deal for what he is. Trash seems a little harsh.
I think the ranking factors the injury part in though cause it talks about it for much of Tev's eval. Thorn has mentioned Jenkins plenty of times and he had him at the 11th ranked LG in the league... noting that he'd move him up if he could stay healthy. All to say, I think Thorn implies "he's better if healthy" and penalized him in the ranking for not being healthy. So really, the difference here is how he's valuing the injuries vs. the teams. The teams have spoken loud and clear. As a player he may be better than banks, the issue is you always have to expect him to get injury.
The best ability is availability. Particularly on the OL where playing rotating chairs just hurts every other player across the line.
I'm surprised its this low and he couldnt find a starting gig, but realistically he's had like 5 different injuries in 4 years. Guy just keeps getting hurt a different way.
