OT high in the 1st seems like a luxury of Long moves to LT, but could easily see them going OG or RTin the 2nd.

I don't know if they will ignore the defense again. I think that they will add some actual playmakers to the defense, the big picture to me would be to alternate between investment cycles. Last year resources went to the offense, this season the defense will get more of the investment.

That way you don't have a situation like the Bears had when the defense aged and fell off a cliff.

No, OT in the 1st round means you get a probowl RG back. 1st round pick, Slauson, Grasu, Long, Massie > Long, Slauson, Grasu, Bell, Massie. That being said, if those are the first 6 picks, there's no OT to take at 7.

Notes and Questions:

Is the above possible or too unrealistic with the proposed cap space available? I'd be willing to drop Bobbie Massie or Kelechi Osemele (and pick up a cheaper player on the OL) if I had to in order to balance the books.

I would keep Jay Cutler through 2016 at least.

Is it at all likely that anyone would trade for Jermon Bushrod and his contract before the trade deadline? Unlikely right (just too much money)? I'd be happy rolling with Leno Jr. till the end of the season.

All the free agent additions should be entering their prime years and have youth on their side.

One has to keep an eye on the contract negotiations of Von Miller and Muhammed Wilkerson though while they're both great players I think they will want huge contracts and for the Bears it's more important to fill out the roster across the board.

I'd keep Willie Young if he continues to improves this season. At $3m next season he's too cheap not to as a solid back up. Same goes for Jay Rat (at vet minimum) though if he picks up another injury and misses more game time I'd move on.

I would love to pair Jaylon Smith with Demario Davies at ILB. If we pick further down then how about Deforest Buckner (DE) who would hopefully continue to improve our defensive line? Fangio feels that is a very important position.

In round 2 I'd be looking for players like Shilique Calhoun (OLB), Jayron Kearse (SS) and Cameron Sutton (CB). One of these players would hopefully be available.

I think with these type of additions in both free agency and the first two rounds of the draft we'd be play off contenders. Do you/people agree?

Also is there any interest here in Mark Barron at SS in free agency as a starter or depth or is he simply not going to cut it given what people have heard and seen?
