So as you all know by now Kate Spade hanged herself in her hotel room (BTW, RIP Sestra). Well she hanged herself from the doorknob using her scarf. How is this possible? I mean would your body automatically go into fight mode and make yourself get up? Possibly she was so hell bent on ending it that she just went with it.

It's true though. When referring to someone killing themselves, or being killed, by hanging, the correct term is hanged. But it is a quibble.

The standard rule for the past tense of hang is this: in almost all situations, you should use the word hung. I hung a picture of Noah Webster on the wall. After school, she hung out in the library. Use hanged when referring to a person being suspended by a rope around the neck until dead.

You have to understand, people who kill themselves are sick and unbalanced. What makes sense to them may not make sense to you. I had a fraternity brother/room mate/best friend kill himself. Regardless of the method they leave a lot of confused, hurt and damaged people in their wake.
