Chicago Cubs third baseman, Aramis Ramirez, has made it known the past couple of months that he does not want to be traded before the July 31 trade deadline. However, Ramirez seemed to soften his stance on being traded after Thursday loss to Milwaukee Brewers.

When asked again Thursday if he would waive his no-trade clause, Ramirez was not as sure about what to do. Ramirez responded to reporters by saying, "Nobody has come forward from the team, [and said] 'We want to trade you,'" Ramirez said after the Brewers completed a sweep of the Cubs. "That's only in the media. [GM] Jim [Hendry] hasn't said anything about trading me. Or what's the other guy, [team president Crane] Kenney? Nobody has asked me to waive my no-trade clause. Hey, nobody wants me. They want good players. If they come to me with a trade, we'll see. But nobody has talked to me about it."

It was reported that Ramirez and the Cubs had discussed the possibility of Ramirez staying with the club beyond 2011. The Cubs should be considering keeping Ramirez because power hitting third-baseman are hard to come by in the league now. The Cubs were not looking to move Ramirez Thursday night, according to a major league source.

However, if the Cubs plan on rebuilding Ramirez doesn't think he fits in that plan.

"That's not a secret, everybody knows [I want to stay]," Ramirez said. "But if they're looking to rebuild, I can't fit in, so we'll see."

However, Ramirez's told Fox Sports that Ramirez comments did not come out they way he meant it. And the Cubs third baseman "Isn't going anywhere".

Ramirez's comments were made after being swept by the rival brewers. After pitcher Carlos Zambrano called for change in the organization Wednesday night, Ramirez backed him up Thursday.

"Of course, when you're 20 games under .500 something is not right," Ramirez said. "You can't point to just one thing. Point to pitching, defense, offense. I believe that's the GM and the front office's job. But of course there's going to be changes. We don't play the way we like to. We're 21 games under .500 so obviously there will be changes."

I don't want to see Rami go anywhere. Besides Castro and Garza, he's basically the only good thing that the Cubs have going for them right now.

An unconfirmed source says the Cubs could be preparing a 3 year offer worth 40MM if he does not get traded. But anything can happen.

That seems about right to me. A-Ram made a comment today that gives me hope that Cubs will spend some money this year in FA:

As for rebuilding in Chicago, Ramirez said "You can't rebuild in a big market... You've got to try to put a winning product on the field."

'Misunderstood' Ramirez wants to stay with Cubs - chicagotribune.com

Tells me that Hendry and A-Ram have been talking about next year and that Hendry prolly told him they would not be rebuilding

David Kaplan's blood pressure just rose. I hope it is true just to spite him. Actually I really hope the Cubs make a big splash and win the division next year so we can end this talk about this team having no chance in the next few years.

D3A and I are on the same page I think keep Ramirez, get Fielder, and get Wilson. I am not sure the budget (assuming it remains in the 135 million range which is a big if) can really handle all three even if Ramirez is coming in at a little under 13.5 million.

It be close with adding those 2 players plus keeping A-Ram. Im still hoping (doubt it) that if they get rid of Soriano that Ricketts wont count that against payroll

Fonzie may be gone and should... Byrd in CF, Jackson in LF and Colvin possibly in RF or another player.

I'm also a fan of waiving Zambrano and hoping they get lucky with someone claiming him. That would make this work easily. Actually, I think Soriano in a platoon with Colvin might be the best option for LF next year given that we can't get any savings on Soriano.

CJ Wilson to me is the biggest piece they need. Having him to bump Garza down to a 2, Dempster to a 3, Z as a fourth, and then having Wells/Cashner/McNutt to fill out the last spot is such an improvement over what we have. The increase an innings pitched should make the bullpen that much better as well. I want both him and Fielder, but if I can only get one it would be CJ Wilson.

I understand Wilson be nice but Fielder to me more important. Wilson isnt an ACE (yes would be Cubs number 1) while Fielder is a superstar.

We need Aram to help bring in Fielder. He won't come in when it's just him and castro. If Ramirez stays thats a great 3&4 hitters that you can sell to Fielder. Then with Castro and possibly Jackson in front of those two. Hendry has to start setting up the team to make it appealing.

I think Byrd will be gone this offseason. He due 6.5 mil and he be a guy to trade to help get guys like Wilson and Fielder. Honestly i could see Soriano LF, Jackson CF, Colvin RF.
