It just means the goaltending will be 3 deep with decent/good goaltending if the price is right with Emery. There were unofficial rumblings aboot it a couple of days ago.

Sorta not surprised gives Raanta a year in the AHL to get used to North American ice and then he backs up Crow

I hope this happens. He has certainly earned it from his record and with the old man hip, he may never get a number 1 spot again, but I would say he is top tier for backups.

He is a huge portion of the team's success last year and has earned another paycheck.

Get ready for Variatroll to start crying about this...

Afterall, Emery fought a few years ago, and taunted Jackman from the bench/after the whistle this past year

Goalie competition is great for an organization. Emory could land #1 gig here if he outperforms Crawford.

Not sure, I don't think Crawford will lose his job to a 91 year old.

It apears that Ray Emery is close to signing an extension. Wonder what Raanta thinks about that? I am ok with it if the money is right.

I'd bet dollars to donuts this is not what his camp was expecting considering he had at least a half dozen known teams vying for him. It's a one year deal so I guess we'll see next summer how he feels he was treated if he chooses to re-sign or not.

I remember hearing Raanta saying that he expects to play in the AHL for a while before getting a shot in the big league. So I doubt he is too miffed about Emery continuing.

Excellent. I hadn't read anything directly from him since his tweet where he said he'd made his choice of team.

Players don't get "miffed" when they sign million dollar deals to come to the US and play...in their early 20's

Even if he did get pissy - tough shit. It's his agents job...not the Hawks - to tell him the possibilities. Just like Niemi's agent may not have told Annti everything

Now the Hawks own his ass for a few years. If he comes over and sucks...he's not going to feel bad/give back any money

That Finnish ***** should be happy the best team in the league showed interest in him

as long as it's only one year, I love it.

If it's 3 years like I heard on Facebook, I would be irate.
