I missed it too. Bloodmoon isn't rare. Total lunar eclipse isn't entirely rare, but both combined are very rare.

I stayed up (I'm in PST time zone, so not too late for me), but didn't think it was a big deal. It looked a little more rusty colored than blood red. I didn't bother waking up the wife or kids.

Same here. It was rust colored for us SoCal twats. I was in Newport so it was pretty clear. I see you are a USC fan. Sad thing is I liked their program better, and still went to UCLA. Are you up in L.A.?

Yeah, I'm a USC grad. I used to live in Seal Beach, but I'm out in the Palm Springs area now. Moved from the beach to the desert! I still make it out to LA a few times a week for work, though.
