Remember when it was Fields fault for holding on to the ball too long?

Thats all we heard. It was fools gold thinking the Bears had an ok OL because they had the top running game....THE ONLY REASON WE COULD RUN THE BALL WAS BECAUSE OF JUSTIN FIELDS! He masked what was and is an awful OL. So what did the Bears do? They ignored the OL in the offseason. Rome is a good WR but my God draft an offensive linemen instead. I'm not saying drafting Caleb was the wrong move but not trading out of 9 and getting more picks and drafting OL was insane.

The oline has been a problem. The oline is still a problem. It looks even worse now. Last night was approaching the Giants vs. Cutler futility.

This is worst case scenario for your rookie QB's development. He's gonna get the yips because of how bad his protection is.

I was wondering how Chris Morgan retained his job. I kind of assumed they blamed Fields for how bad the oline was in the passing game. What's the excuse now?

Justin made the running game look miles better than it really was and they both can't and won't use Caleb like that so this shit is a problem.

Thankfully the schedule is pretty fucking easy going forward and Justin's stats are low because Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh but if he were balling out right now shit would be scary toxic in the fan base and media.

The thing is though the players only care about winning so seeing 2-0 next to Justin's name has to stick with the D and clearly is an issue with DJ. Get shit right quick Caleb because this can get ugly quick.

That is spot on...how the hell did he retain his job? All the blame was thrown Justin's way. Everyone believed it. Again, I'm fine with Caleb but Justin wasn't the problem

Remember 11 months ago when Flus was ready to lose his job? Coaches getting let go for strange reasons, him babbling like an idiot on sideline interviews. He gets a new haircut, grows a beard and shows off his house on hard knocks and now he is a leader of men?

It’s a team game. The Steelers have also played the falcons and broncos who are lesser competition defensively then the Titans and Texans.
Winning on the road ain't no joke. Falcons are vastly better than the 0-2 Titans, especially at home.

Caleb needs time, this is 100% true but right now Justin is a better NFL QB than Caleb and until Caleb changes that, Justin's presence is going loom over this franchise.

If they punch the Chargers in the mouth and Justin makes some plays - he's not losing that job and they're going to win a fucking ton of games. The Chargers are legit and IMO darkhorse candidates to win their division.

It is hilarious watching all of Bears fandom exclusively blame this terrible OL after just 6 months ago exclusively blaming all the bears offensive woes on Fields

Unfortunately, I do think the next two games are losable. I guess with Puka and Kupp hurt, there really isn't a reason to lose to them, but I could 100% see it if at least one of them were healthy. I hope we at least split cause I don't want to see the doom and gloom fanbase come out.

@Colts
Rams
Panthers
Jags
@Commanders
@Cards

Jags are frauds because their franchise QB is all hype and no production, Richardson can be beat, Rams are banged up, Panthers are lol.

Caleb needs to find a spark and get his down field accuracy dialed in because it's Mitch levels bad right now.

Nobody put all the blame on Fields, just like when the fields cult wanted to blame everything on Getsy, most logical fans took the stance they both can be bad.

Same thing with the OL, both could be bad, but the fact is Fields holds the ball for a very long time, which makes the OL need to block for longer, which makes them look much worse.

CW time to throw this year is 2.64 seconds, Fields is 2.9.. imagine how much worse the OL would look with Fields back there holding the ball longer?

Do you root for a low time to throw stat or wins?

I don't believe people think he was the "major issue". He was just an issue.

I know people want to be optimistic about the OL, including me, but we all know they weren't fantastic. They a middle of the road unit at best right now. Objective rankings everywhere say that. Where the optimism comes is that maybe they'll crack top 10 with time together since last year, as it's mostly the same guys. Regardless, OL should get better and better with more and more time together. Keyword is should. Also, someone like Wright should see more improvement. Again, maybe a lot are guilty of optimism, but I think everyone would GLADLY have taken replacements for center and RG. No one loved those guys last year.

Also WRs... everyone knows that someone like Mooney wasn't fantastic. Sure, he's probably better than what we saw, but that doesn't mean people didn't want to upgrade him. Universally, everyone wanted WR upgraded. No one wanted to pay Mooney and that was totally solidified when we saw his contract. No one here wanted to pay that... I can't remember a single person being sad he was gone.

Getsy was universally trashed. No need to go deep on that one.

So, I'd say a majority of the fanbase very readily would've welcomed changes on the OL, WR, and OC always. That's an indication that people definitely didn't believe Fields was the only issue. The thing though is Fields has a contract thing to work through soon, and there's no single position where an upgrade can make the most difference like QB. So, it makes sense to try to make that move without making Fields shoulder all the blame. People always wanted to make this a "is Fields the problem" kind of issue, but no one person is the problem anywhere (except the McCaskey family).
