First Mock here.

As before here are the 34 players under contract next year.

QB - Williams, Bagent
RB - Swift, Johnson,Wheeler
WR - Moore, Odunze, Scott
TE - Kmet, Everett
OT - Jones, Kiran, Wright
IOL - Bates

Edge - Sweat, Robinson, Booker
IDL - Dexter, Billings, Walker, Pickens
LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell
CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Smith
S - Byard, Brisker, Hicks, Owens

K - Santos
P - Taylor

Cuts
Everett and Walker
92m Cap Space

Re-Signings

Allen - I think most expect him gone but assuming hid value has declined and he is a favorite target of Caleb I re-sign for 2 years 24m

Shelton - His start to the season was terrible but he has played well since so I give him a modest 2 years 7m contract

Sanborn - Think he is a solid SAM and occasionally start at MIKE and WILL so 3 years at 9m

Minimum salary signings, Murray, Reddy Steward, Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, Stromberg, Martin, Carter
66.5m Cap Space

Free Agents

Zeitler- Older but still good an allows us to work a rookie in. May need to add a 3 year to entice him. 3 years 30 million

Dalman - Compete rebuild of the line by added one if the beat run blocking centers. 4 years 60 million.

Will Fries - Was playing great for the Colts before injury ranking 3rd ranked by PFF. 1 year 10 million.

Koonce - Injured in 2024 so likely to take a 1 year prove it deal and Bears have clear need. 1 year 12 million.
19.5 Million Cap Space

Draft
1st Round - Abdul Carter - Looks like he will ne next great Penn State pass rusher

2nd - Tyler Booker - Can start day one but wont have too with Zeitler and Fries in fold. However great depth and protection against injury.

2nd Round - Deone Walker - A few draft engines seem to have him lower than I expect but conditioning issues may be an issue. In any event he joins the DL rotation as he has the size to play NT and first step quickness to play 3T.

3rd Round - Emmanwori - Great size and can play FS, SS, Big Nickel or even as a coverage LB on passing downs.

5th Round - Skattebo - Powerful runner who is useful in the pass game so fits modern NFL.

6th - Hollin Pierce - Big T/G prospect that can help in short yardage initially

Buchanan- More of a coverage LB to provide depth.
Cap Space 8.5 million

QB - Williams, Bagent
RB - Swift, Johnson, Wheeler, Skattebo
WR - Moore, Odunze, Scott, Allen, Carter
TE - Kmet
OT - Jones, Kiran, Wright, Pierce
IOL - Dalman, Fries, Zeitler, Shelton, Murray, Stromberg, Bates,

Edge - Sweat, Robinson, Booker, Koonce, Martin, Carter
IDL - Dexter, Billings, Pickens, Walker
LB - Edmunds, Edwards, Sewell, Sanborn, Buchanan
CB - Johnson, Stevenson, Gordon, Steward, Jones, Blackwell
S - Byard, Brisker, Hicks, Owens, Smith, Emmanawori

K - Santos
P - Taylor

Obviously not a final 53 as short on TEs but focused on key positions.

Still running it back with Keenan Allen I see....$24M for 6.1 yards per target, which is 159th of 194 qualifiers. Wow. Don't think Detroit is going to let Zeitler go, and if they do, I don't see why an aged vet would choose to sign with a last place franchise. Are we assuming Thomas Brown is retained as HC?

It is 12m a year for Allen who should look better once Caleb plays better.

Zeitler will be 35 next year hence why I said may need to add 3rd year which other teams including the Lions may not want to do.

No we are not assuming Brown as HC as he did not meet the conditions to do so.

What are your thoughts on Allen this year? I think he's added nothing to the offense. I've seen him drop more passes in 1 year as a Bear than 11 years with the Chargers. Allen should be the one making Caleb look better, not vice versa.

How is Will Fries playing great for the Colts?? He broke his Tibia in the 5th game of the season and had to have surgery and a metal plate installed. He ended his season on IR

They will go with Christian Mahogany at OG after the year.

At least one too many for each of these positions right? Maybe not CB if you're including NB in there.

Dude, no one cares about metal plates. Currently 3rd ranked G by PFF. End story.
He's only played five games this year...end of story. If you go by PFF, Teven Jenkins (75.8), Braxton Jones (80.8), and Darnell Wright (78) are all highly rated. Why would they need to improve on any of those guys?

I'm cutting Bates... I don't know the college players since I don't follow that so much, but with what I have heard of from Free Agency, The pickings tend to be very weak. In case of the Interior, I kind of would prefer the starting Guards to be of an Ideal fit to Willaims, and had a vet Center at least this year... if it's Shelton, can do worse, I guess.

I would rather see them sign Tutu Atwell, who ranks 22nd, over bringing back Allen. They need some juice in that group

Im good on giving a middle aged guy a 3 year deal.

Zeitler likely returns to the lions anyways.

LOL Deone Walker isn’t a 3T. He's 355-360 lbs (depending on info sites you look up) and his best attribute if you read any scouting report is his ability to take up 2 sets of hands most every play. You change schemes to a 3-4 and plug him in as your NT—a plan I am all for. And FYI, he’s the NT in Brad White’s 3-4 defense for Kentucky.

Playing him at 3T is some pop warner, square peg in a round hole bullshit that doesn’t maximize the player’s strengths (in fact, you’re worsening him by playing a position he doesn’t play—which is apropos for the bears) and seldom works for this franchise, we just remember Urlacher, Melton, and Hester being the exceptions to the rule.

Tyler Booker won’t be there in the 2nd round.

Dalman I like, but Atlanta can easily move some money around to keep him comfortably, should they want to. And if you sign him, Shelton is redundant.

Pretty sure a 3 year deal for a guy who turns 35 in a couple weeks isn’t smart. Even though Zeitler is a good player.

I’d like to see a change at K. Everybody else has a kicker who makes 55 yard kicks look easy. Well…except the bears.
